Post Consistently Without Adding to Your To-Do List
Managing social media consistently is one of the hardest parts of running a small business. Not because posts are difficult to write, but because there is never a good time to stop and write them. Thryv's social media tools let you connect all of your social platforms in one place, build a library of ready-to-use content, and set a posting schedule that runs automatically so your business stays visible online without requiring daily attention. This article walks you through the Getting Started checklist in your Social dashboard, which guides you through four steps: linking your accounts, scheduling your first post, building your content library, and setting up a posting schedule. If you are looking for help reconnecting a social media account or adding a new platform after setup, see Connect Your Social Media Pages to Thryv.
Step 1: Link Your Social Media Accounts
Before you can schedule posts or build a content library, you need to connect at least one social media account to your social dashboard. When you open Social for the first time, Thryv will prompt you to connect your accounts automatically. Click Link Your Accounts on the Getting Started checklist in the orange panel on the right side of your Social dashboard to open the account connection screen. To connect an account, select it from the menu. From here, all you need to do is follow the prompts. You will need to sign in with your account credentials for the social platform being connected.
If you have already connected an account and need to add a new platform or reconnect an existing one, you can do this at any time through Settings. For full instructions on connecting each supported platform, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and Threads, see Connect Your Social Media Pages to Thryv.
Once at least one account is connected, the Link Your Accounts step on your Getting Started checklist will show a checkmark, and you can move on to scheduling your first post.
Step 2: Schedule Your First Post
Scheduling your first post is the moment your social media presence becomes real. In one step, you choose your message, select every platform you want it to go to, pick a time, and click Schedule, and Thryv handles the rest. No logging in to Facebook, then Instagram, then LinkedIn separately. It all goes out at once, on your schedule, while you get back to your business.
To get started, click on Schedule a Post from the social dashboard. Alternatively, you can click on the Social Calendar in the top row, then click on a date in the future to schedule a post for that date.
Add media to your post by clicking the appropriate tile in the post creation window. You can upload an image from your device or choose from a free stock photo library. If you are not sure what image to use, ImageAI can generate a custom, professional-quality image from a description you provide, without leaving the post creation window and without a stock photo subscription. Posts perform better on every platform when they include a visual element, and ImageAI means you never have to settle for a generic photo or skip the image entirely. For a full guide to generating images with ImageAI, see How to Use ImageAI for Social Media Posts.
Add a caption in the text field below your media. If you are staring at a blank text field, CaptionAI can write one for you based on your post content, click CaptionAI in the caption area to get started. You can accept a suggestion, edit it, or generate another. Having a built-in caption writer means you can go from idea to scheduled post in minutes, even on the days when the words are not coming. For a full guide to generating captions with CaptionAI, see How to Use CaptionAI for Social Media Captions.
Set a time for your post in the scheduling field and click Schedule to confirm. Your post will appear on your Social Calendar on the date and time you selected, and you can return to edit or reschedule it any time before it publishes. Once your first post is scheduled, the Schedule a Post step on your Getting Started checklist will show a checkmark.
Step 3: Build Your Content Library
The biggest obstacle to consistent social media posting is not having something to say — it is finding the time to say it. Your content library solves that problem by giving you a place to save ready-to-use posts that you can schedule and recycle without starting from scratch every time. A few items in your library means your social media presence keeps moving even on the days you never open the app.
To add content to your library, click Create 3 Content Items on your social dashboard. Alternatively, you can click on content Library in the tab bar at the top of your Social dashboard. Click Create New Content to open the content creation window. The content creation window works the same way as the post creation window: add your media, use ImageAI to generate a custom image if you need one, and use CaptionAI to write your caption if you want a starting point. Click Here for a full guide to adding content to the library.
One thing that makes library content especially powerful is the ability to add multiple captions to the same post. Use the Add Caption option to attach several caption variations to a single image or video. Each time the content is recycled in a posting schedule, a different caption rotates in automatically, so the same strong visual stays fresh across your platforms without any extra work on your end.
Step 4: Set Up a Posting Schedule
Consistent posting is what turns a social media presence into a growth channel — but consistency is exactly what falls apart when you are running a business. A posting schedule in Thryv keeps your accounts active on a cadence you set once, pulling automatically from your content library so there are no gaps, no missed weeks, and nothing that requires you to remember.
To create a posting schedule, click Social Calendar in the tab bar at the top of your Social dashboard. Click the Create Schedule button to open the schedule builder.
You will be prompted to choose between two schedule types:
Weekly Schedule — posts new content from your content library on a recurring weekly cadence. You set the days and times, and Thryv fills the slots automatically. A Weekly Schedule works well for themed or recurring content, like a weekly tip or a regular promotion.
Drip Schedule — recycles the same content from your content library repeatedly over an extended period of time. A Drip Schedule works well for evergreen content that stays relevant year-round, like a service highlight or a customer testimonial.

FAQ
Does this article cover everything I can do with social media in Thryv?
This article covers the four steps in the Getting Started checklist on your Social dashboard. For deeper guides on each feature, take a look at our Social articles section.
Can Thryv create a Facebook, Instagram, or other social media page for me?
No. Thryv connects to and posts on behalf of existing social media pages, but cannot create a page on any social platform on your behalf. You will need to create your page directly on the platform before connecting it to your Social dashboard.
Can I post to my personal Facebook page from Thryv?
No. Meta does not allow third-party platforms to post to personal Facebook pages. Thryv can only post to Facebook Business Pages. If you want to post to Facebook from Thryv, make sure you are connecting a Facebook Business Page, not a personal profile.
Do all platforms support the same types of content?
No. Each platform has its own content requirements. Instagram and Pinterest require either an image or a video. Text-only posts are not supported on those platforms. TikTok and YouTube each require a video. If a post fails after publishing, click on the failed post in your Social Calendar to see the platform's specific error message.
