What is the Text & Voice platform?
Thryv Text & Voice enables your business to send and receive both SMS and MMS directly from your account using a dedicated business number. This consolidates your communication into one platform and prevents you from having to manage multiple platforms and communication channels. It is built to serve both new subscribers and existing users transitioning from previous Keap Marketing Number or Keap Business Line accounts.
Who is eligible for Text & Voice?
This communication suite is available to all users on Keap Pro, Max, and Ultimate plans. The platform is engineered to support the high-volume needs of growing businesses, whether you are claiming a brand-new number or migrating an established business line into this upgraded environment.
What Do I Need to Verify my Business for Texting?
In order to send and receive text messages from a business line, all businesses must be verified before texting is enabled. We'll cover the exact setup steps later in this guide. This requirement is necessary for compliance with regulations set forth by mobile carriers (Verizon, T Mobile, etc). You will need the following information, matching your tax filings exactly:
- Legal business name
- Tax ID (e.g., EIN for US, ABN for Australia)
- Physical business address
- Branded website and business email (no generic emails)

How to Activate Thryv Text and Voice For the First Time
In the left-hand navigation, click on Comms, and then Text and Voice. Click Here to open this screen in your account.
Select whether to acquire a Toll Free Number (no additional charge with your plan for the first 500 messages and 100 minutes per month) or a Local Number ($120 per year in the US for the first 500 messages and 100 minutes per month)
A Local Number includes a premium local phone number with an area code of your choice.
Either choice enables your business to:
- Send text message broadcasts
- Text 1:1 with your contacts
- Sent text messages in automations
- Add more text messages or voice minutes to your plan at any time
Check the box indicating you agree to the terms and conditions and click on Next to proceed. On the next screen, you'll be asked for some basic information about your business.
Migrate to Thryv Text and Voice (for existing Keap Business Line users)
Migrating to the upgraded Thryv Text & Voice platform ensures your business benefits from the latest feature enhancements, including a unified inbox with multiple messaging channels, improved messaging tools, and upcoming voice and voicemail capabilities. The new platform also delivers better message deliverability by keeping your business fully compliant with carrier regulations. All customers must migrate by May 15, 2026, as the existing Keap Marketing Number and Keap Business Line services will be discontinued after that date. Moving to Text & Voice now ensures uninterrupted service and access to ongoing improvements.

First click on your profile icon in the lower left, then click on Settings.
Then, scroll down and click on Text Message Verification.
To complete the migration, click on Confirm Your Number. From here, you'll be prompted to complete a pre-verification to avoid service disruption.
An in app notification and email will be sent to you when there is an update or change to your verification status, including any action required on your part.
Note: There may be service interruptions or limitations of features while the migration is taking place. You can always return to this screen to check on your verification status.
How do I know if my business is verified?
You’ll see your verification status on the Onboarding Verification Status screen by navigating to Settings, then Text Message Verification. Your verification will be in one of the following statuses:
- Pending Submission
- In Progress
- Action Required / Resubmit
- Rejected
- Completed
You will also receive email and in-app notifications for status changes, along with any action required on your part.
How to Port Your Existing Keap Number to Thryv Text and Voice
If you have an existing number through Keap Business Line, you can port the same number to Thryv Text and Voice. By moving your current number, you avoid the cost and confusion of rebranding or updating your contact details across your website and business cards.
Start the Text and Voice setup as normal, and select Port Existing Number. You will be required to submit business verification forms. Please note a valid EIN and matching valid business name must be included.
From here, Thryv will handle the process to port your number, and we'll notify you when it's complete. Most ports are completed within a few business days, though landline-to-mobile transfers or specific regional requirements can occasionally take longer.
Can I port an existing non-Keap number (from Verizon, T-Mobile, Google Voice or others) to Thryv Text and Voice?
No, porting external numbers is not supported.
What are the compliance requirements for texting?
Carriers and regulators have strict standards to protect consumers from unsolicited messaging. Adhering to these guidelines is the best way to ensure your messages maintain a high deliverability rate and that your business remains in good standing.
- All marketing and conversational messages require explicit opt-in.
- Separate opt-in checkboxes for marketing and transactional messages. A transactional message is a message related to a specific business action, like an appointment reminder or a payment receipt. A marketing message is any message not specifically tied to a business interaction.
- Include opt-out instructions in every message.
- Link to SMS terms and privacy policy on your website. Click Here for instructions to add a page to your Thryv website.
