Why Use a Custom Date Range for Your Report
Data is only useful when it answers the specific questions you have about your business. Standard date ranges are helpful, but you often need to see performance for an exact time window such as a single promotional week, a quarterly growth push, or the duration of a recent campaign. A custom date range gives you full control over the data displayed on any metric in Thryv Reporting Center.
Setting a custom date range for a metric allows you to:
- Pinpoint performance. Specify exact start and end dates to isolate the results of a specific marketing effort or operational change.
- Validate strategy. Compare custom date ranges, such as this holiday season versus last holiday season, to measure the effectiveness of your long-term business strategy.
- Simplify reporting. See only the data you need for the time window you care about, without exporting and cleaning up irrelevant data points.
This article covers how to set a custom date range for an individual metric tile in Thryv Reporting Center. It does not cover the Master Date Range, which applies a single date range to every metric in a report. For information on the Master Date Range and other reporting features, see How to Use Thryv Reporting Center: Prebuilt and Custom Reports.
How to Set a Custom Date Range for a Metric
To set a custom date range on a specific metric tile, follow these steps:
- Open the report containing the metric you want to update.
- Locate the metric tile and click the date range dropdown at the top of the tile.
- In the dropdown menu that appears, click Custom date range.
- When Custom date range is selected, the date picker calendar will appear to the right of the dropdown.
- Click the start date for your custom range.
- Click the end date for your custom range. All days in between the start and end dates will be shaded to show that they are included in the range.
- Click Apply to save your custom date range.
The date range dropdown is open on the "Appointments by Status" metric tile in the Weekly Sales Meeting Report. The dropdown displays the following options: Custom date range, Last 7 days, Month to date, Last 4 weeks, Last 12 weeks, Last 6 months, Last 12 months, Last 24 months, and Next 7D. Custom date range is selected and highlighted in blue. To the right of the dropdown, the date picker is open displaying two date input fields with the dates 04/27/26 and 05/24/26 selected. Below the date fields, a calendar for May 2026 shows the selected date range. Clear, Cancel, and Apply buttons are visible at the bottom of the date picker.
Once you click Apply, the metric tile will refresh and display data only for the dates within your custom range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a custom date range on one metric affect the rest of the report?
No. Setting a custom date range on a metric tile only changes the data on that specific tile. Other metric tiles in the report remain unchanged. To apply a single date range to every metric in the report at once, use the Master Date Range dropdown at the top of the report page.
Can I save a custom date range for future use?
Custom date ranges apply only to the current view of the metric tile. The next time you open the report, the metric tile will display its default date range unless you set the custom range again.
What is the maximum date range I can select?
Thryv Reporting Center supports custom date ranges of up to 24 months. For longer historical comparisons, set two custom ranges and compare them side by side.
