This article covers how to use, create, update, and delete text message templates for the Keap™ Business Line. Templates save time by storing frequently used messages for quick reuse. The templates icon appears wherever a text message can be sent in Keap.
To use text message templates, the Keap Mobile app must be installed and a Keap Business Line must be set up. Text message templates are stored separately from Email Templates.
Access Text Message Templates

Navigate to Comms, then select Calls and Texts.

Select an existing conversation or start a new message.

Select the Template button in the message composer.

Select a template from the list to insert it, or select Manage templates to create, update, or delete templates.

After selecting a template, it is inserted into the message field. Merge fields in the template are filled automatically when the message is sent. Customize the text as needed, then select Send.

Access the Template Manager
The template manager is used to create, update, and delete text message templates. Access it using the following steps:
Navigate to Messages.
Select a message.
Select the Template button at the bottom of the message window.

Select Manage templates to open the template manager.

Create a New Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.

Select the plus button to create a new template.

Enter a template name and the message body for the new template.

After completing the template, select Insert template to use it immediately, or select the back arrow at the top of the template manager to return to the message without inserting it. Templates save automatically — the save status is displayed next to the Insert template button.

Update an Existing Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.
Select the template to update.
Edit the template name, message body, or both.
After editing, select Insert template to use the updated template immediately, or select the back arrow to return to the message. Templates save automatically — the save status is displayed next to the Insert template button.
Delete an Existing Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.
Select the template to delete.

Select the trash bin icon at the top of the template manager.

Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Note: Default templates provided by Keap cannot be deleted.

Select the back arrow at the top of the template manager to return to the message.

Can templates be accessed outside of a contact record?
Yes. Text message templates can be accessed from any area of the Keap app where a text message can be sent. Select the Template button at the bottom of the message window to access saved templates and the template manager.
Can merge fields or booking links be used in text message templates?
Yes. Merge fields can be inserted using the (#) button at the bottom of the message window. A calendar button is also available for quick access to appointment booking links.
