This article covers how to use marketing text message templates in Keap™, including accessing templates in Broadcasts, Easy Automations, and Advanced Automations, and how to create, update, and delete templates. Marketing Text Message Templates are stored separately from Email Templates and Keap Business Line Text Templates.
Note: Broadcast Text Message Templates and Advanced Automation Text Message Templates are stored in separate template libraries. A template created in one location is not available in the other.
Access Templates in a Text Message Broadcast
Create a new Text Message Broadcast.

Select the Template button in the Message section.

Select a template from the list to insert it, or select Manage templates to create, update, or delete templates.

After selecting a template, it is inserted into the message field. Merge fields in the template are filled automatically when the message is sent. Customize the text as needed, then select Review broadcast.

Access Templates in an Easy Automation Text Message
Create a new Automated Text Message in Easy Automations.

Select Template from the message setup options.

Select a template from the list to insert it into the message field. Merge fields in the template are filled automatically when the message is sent. Customize the text as needed.

Templates can also be accessed from within the message composition screen using the template icon.

Access Templates in an Advanced Automation Text Message
Create a new Automated Text Message step in Advanced Automations.

Access the Template Manager
The template manager is used to create, update, and delete marketing text message templates. Access it using the following steps:
Navigate to Messages.
Select a message.
Select the Template button at the bottom of the message window.

Select Manage templates to open the template manager.

Create a New Marketing Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.

Select the plus button to create a new template.

Enter a template name and the message body for the new template.

After completing the template, select Insert template to use it immediately, or select the back arrow at the top of the template manager to return to the message without inserting it. Templates save automatically — the save status is displayed next to the Insert template button.

Update an Existing Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.
Select the template to update.
Edit the template name, message body, or both.
After editing, select Insert template to use the updated template immediately, or select the back arrow to return to the message. Templates save automatically — the save status is displayed next to the Insert template button.
Delete an Existing Text Message Template
Open the template manager using the steps in the Access the Template Manager section above.
Select the template to delete.

Select the trash bin icon at the top of the template manager.

Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Note: Default templates provided by Keap cannot be deleted.

Select the back arrow at the top of the template manager to return to the message.

No. Broadcast Text Message Templates and Advanced Automation Text Message Templates are stored in separate libraries. A template created for a Broadcast is not available in Advanced Automations and vice versa.
Can default Keap templates be deleted?
No. Default templates provided by Keap cannot be deleted. Only templates created by the account user can be deleted.
Are template changes saved automatically?
Yes. Changes to a template are saved automatically while editing. The save status is displayed next to the Insert template button in the template manager.
