Why Posting to Multiple Social Platforms from One Place Saves You Time
Maintaining an active presence on multiple social media platforms is one of the most effective ways to stay visible to your customers — but logging into each platform separately to post the same content is time-consuming and easy to let slip. Thryv® lets you create, schedule, and publish posts to multiple social media platforms simultaneously from a single screen, so you can stay consistent online without the manual effort of managing each platform individually.
Use the Social Calendar in Thryv to:
Post to multiple platforms at once — Create one post and publish it to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, and more in a single action.
Schedule posts in advance — Choose a future date and time for your post to go live so your content calendar stays full without requiring you to post manually every day.
Reuse and recycle content — Save posts to your content library, rotate captions, and add content to automated publishing queues so your best content keeps working for you.
Create on-brand visuals without leaving Thryv — Use ImageAI to generate custom images and CaptionAI to generate captions directly inside the posting flow.
How to Create and Publish a Social Media Post from Thryv
To create a social media post, click Social in the left-hand navigation of Thryv, then click Social Calendar. To publish a post immediately, click the Post Now button at the top of the Social Calendar screen.
The screenshot above shows the Social Calendar screen with the Post Now button visible at the top. Clicking Post Now opens a popup in the lower right corner of the screen where you select the type of content to create.
In the popup that appears in the lower right corner of the screen, select the type of content you want to create. The available options are Post, Story, and Cover Photo.
The screenshot above shows the content type selection popup. Three options are displayed: Post, Story, and Cover Photo. Select the option that matches the type of content you want to create. After selecting a content type, the post creation window opens.
In the post creation window, start by entering a Title for your post. The title field is only visible to platforms that display post titles — currently Pinterest and YouTube. The title does not appear on any other social platforms.
The screenshot above shows the Title field at the top of the post creation window. A note below the field indicates that the title only appears on Pinterest and YouTube. The Title field does not appear on posts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google Business Profile, or Threads.
Next, select the social media accounts where you want this post to be published. Click each account you want to include. You can select one account or multiple accounts — the post will be published to all selected accounts simultaneously.
The screenshot above shows the social account selector in the post creation window. Each connected social media account is listed with a checkbox. Click the checkbox next to each account where you want the post to be published. Only accounts that are currently connected to Thryv appear in this list.
How to Add Media to Your Social Post
After selecting your social accounts, add media to your post by clicking the appropriate tile in the media section of the post creation window. You can add an image, a video, or a shortened link to a web page. Adding visual media is strongly recommended — posts with images or videos consistently perform better on all social platforms than text-only posts. If you want to create a text-only post, you can skip the media step and proceed directly to adding a caption.
How to Add an Image to Your Post
To add an image to your post, click the Image tile in the media section. You can add an image in three ways: upload a photo from your device, browse the free stock photo library, or create a custom image using the Canva integration. You can add multiple images to a single post where the platform supports multiple images.
The screenshot above shows the image upload options panel. Three options are displayed: Upload from Device to add a photo from your computer or mobile device, Browse Stock Photos to select from the free stock photo library, and Create with Canva to design a custom image using the Canva integration. Select the option that matches how you want to source your image.
How to Add a Video to Your Post
To add a video to your post, click the Video tile in the media section. A file upload prompt appears where you can select a video from your device. After selecting a video, you must also enter a Video Title in the field provided. The video title appears above the video caption and in search results on platforms that support video titles.
The screenshot above shows the video upload panel. A file upload area is displayed at the top for selecting a video from your device. The Video Title input field is shown below the upload area. The Video Title field is required when adding a video — the post cannot be submitted without a video title entered.
How to Add a Link to Your Post
To add a link to your post, click the URL tile in the media section. A window appears where you can paste the URL you want to share. Click Save when finished. Thryv automatically shortens the URL before adding it to your post.
The screenshot above shows the URL input window. A text field is displayed for pasting the link and a Save button is shown below the field. After clicking Save, a shortened version of the URL is added to your post. The URL window does not include options for customizing the link preview — the preview is generated automatically by the destination platform.
After adding media, a preview of how your post will appear on each selected platform is displayed on the right side of the post creation window. If you are posting to multiple platforms, click the platform logo above the preview to see how the post will look on each platform before publishing.
The screenshot above shows the post preview panel on the right side of the post creation window. The preview displays how the post will appear on the currently selected platform. Platform logo tabs are shown at the top of the preview panel — click any logo to switch the preview to that platform. The preview is an approximation of how the post will appear and may differ slightly from the final published result on each platform.
How to Create a Custom Image with ImageAI
ImageAI is an AI-powered image generation tool built into the social posting flow in Thryv. Use ImageAI to create custom, unique images based on a description you provide — without needing an external stock photo subscription or design tool. ImageAI lets you maintain a consistent visual style across all your social platforms without leaving Thryv.
For a full step-by-step guide to using ImageAI, see How to Create Social Media Images with ImageAI in Thryv.
The screenshot above shows the ImageAI tool panel inside the Thryv social posting flow. A description input field is displayed where you type a prompt describing the image you want to create. The Generate button produces a custom image based on your description. The ImageAI panel does not include options for editing or cropping the generated image after it is created — use the image editing tools in the post creation window for further adjustments.
The screenshot above shows an example of a finished image generated by ImageAI. The generated image is displayed and ready to be added to the social media post. After reviewing the generated image, click the image to add it to your post or click Generate again to create a new image based on the same or a revised prompt.
How to Write a Caption for Your Post
After adding media, enter a caption for your post in the caption field. You can include emojis and hashtags in your caption. To insert an emoji, click the emoji icon below the caption field. To make the caption field larger or smaller on your screen, click and drag the resize handle in the lower right corner of the field.
You can save multiple captions for the same post and cycle through them using the arrows below the caption field. Saving multiple captions is useful when you want to reuse the same post with different caption variations. To generate a caption automatically using AI, use the CaptionAI tool. For a full guide to using CaptionAI, see How to Generate Social Media Captions with CaptionAI in Thryv.
The screenshot above shows the caption section of the post creation window. The caption text input field is displayed at the top. The emoji icon is shown below the left side of the field. Navigation arrows for cycling between multiple saved captions are shown below the field. The CaptionAI button is visible for generating captions automatically. The caption field does not have a character limit enforced by Thryv — however, individual platforms have their own character limits which are listed in the social media requirements article.
To write a different caption for each platform, toggle the Platform Specific Captions setting to on. When this setting is enabled, a separate caption field appears for each platform you have selected, allowing you to customize the caption for each platform individually.
The screenshot above shows the Platform Specific Captions toggle in the on position. Individual caption input fields are displayed below the toggle, one for each selected platform. When Platform Specific Captions is turned off, a single caption field applies to all selected platforms. The Platform Specific Captions toggle is located below the main caption field in the post creation window.
How to Customize Posts for Google Business Profile
When you select Google Business Profile as a destination for your post, additional fields appear in the post creation window specifically for Google. These additional fields let you configure your post to drive engagement directly from Google search results. Only verified Google Business Profiles can publish posts — if your Google Business Profile is not yet verified, see How to Verify Your Google Business Profile with Thryv.
Select Your Google Post Type
Choose the post type that best matches your content. Google offers three post types: Standard Post, Event Post, and Offer Post. The post type you select determines how your content appears in the Updates section of your Google Business Profile in search results.
Add a Call-to-Action Button to Your Google Post
Google allows you to add a call-to-action button to the bottom of your post to guide customers toward a specific next step. To add a button, use the Add a Button dropdown menu to select the action that best fits your post. The available button options are No Button, Book, Order, Shop, Learn More, Sign Up, and Call. After selecting a button, enter a destination URL in the Button URL field. The URL should link to a specific page on your website that matches the content of your post, such as your booking page or a product category page.
The screenshot above shows the Google Business Profile post options panel. The post type selector is displayed at the top with Standard Post, Event Post, and Offer Post as options. The Add a Button dropdown is shown below with the available call-to-action button options. A URL input field appears below the button dropdown after a button type is selected. These Google-specific options only appear in the post creation window when Google Business Profile is selected as one of the posting destinations.
How to Configure Content Settings for Your Post
The Content Settings section of the post creation window lets you control two behaviors for your post: whether it requires approval before publishing, and whether it can be recycled in automated content queues.
Toggle Require Approval to on if you want this post to require manual approval before it publishes when added to your social calendar. When Require Approval is on, the post will not go live automatically — a team member must approve the post first.
Toggle Recycle Content to on if you want this post to be reused when it is placed in a Content Queue. Enabling Recycle Content does not automatically schedule additional instances of the post — it only allows the post to be used more than once when it is added to an automated publishing queue. If you have saved multiple captions for this post, the captions will rotate each time the post is recycled. You can also set an expiration for the recycled content if you do not want it to continue being reused indefinitely.
The screenshot above shows the Content Settings section of the post creation window. The Require Approval toggle is shown at the top. The Recycle Content toggle is shown below it, with an expiration option visible beneath the Recycle Content toggle. Both toggles are in the off position by default. The Content Settings section does not control which platforms the post is published to — platform selection is managed in the social account selector earlier in the post creation flow.
How to Add Content Tags to Your Post
Content tags help you organize posts in your content library. Content tags are internal labels visible only to you and your team inside Thryv — they do not appear on any social platform and are not the same as hashtags. Hashtags must be added to your caption separately. Use content tags to categorize posts by campaign, topic, or content type so you can search and filter your content library easily.
The screenshot above shows the Content Tags section of the post creation window. A tag input field is displayed where you can type and add content tags. Tags added here are searchable in your content library. Content tags are not visible to anyone outside your Thryv account and do not appear on published posts.
How to Schedule a Post for a Future Date
To schedule a post to publish at a future date and time, click a date on the Social Calendar instead of clicking Post Now. Clicking a date on the calendar opens the post creation window with that date pre-selected as the scheduled publish date. After completing your post, set the time you want the post to go live. To schedule the same post for multiple future dates, click Add Another Post Date to add additional date and time entries for the same post.
The screenshot above shows the Social Calendar screen with a monthly calendar view. Individual date cells are displayed and can be clicked to open the post creation window with that date pre-selected as the scheduled publish date. The Social Calendar does not show posts from other platforms that were published outside of Thryv — it only displays posts created and scheduled within Thryv.
The screenshot above shows the scheduling section of the post creation window. A time selector is displayed for choosing when the post will go live. The Add Another Post Date button is shown below the time selector for scheduling additional instances of the same post. After setting your date and time, complete the rest of the post creation flow and click Schedule to save the scheduled post. You can return to edit the post at any time before the scheduled publish date and time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this article cover?
This article covers how to create, publish, and schedule social media posts from the Social Calendar in Thryv, including how to add images, videos, and links, how to write captions, how to configure Google Business Profile post options, how to set content settings and tags, and how to schedule posts for future dates. This article does not cover detailed ImageAI or CaptionAI instructions — for those guides, see How to Create Social Media Images with ImageAI in Thryv and How to Generate Social Media Captions with CaptionAI in Thryv.
Can I post any type of content to any platform?
No. Each platform has its own content requirements. Instagram and Pinterest require either an image or a video — text-only posts are not supported on these platforms. TikTok and YouTube each require a video. Each platform may also have additional format or size requirements. For a full breakdown of requirements by platform, see Social Media Image, Video, and Content Requirements for Posting from Thryv.
Why did my post fail to publish?
When a post fails to publish, it appears highlighted in red with an error icon on your Social Calendar. Click the failed post to open the error message and see the reason for the failure. Once you have resolved the issue described in the error message, you can reschedule the post. The most common cause of post failures is a platform content requirement not being met — for example, attempting to post text-only content to a platform that requires an image or video.
The screenshot above shows a failed post on the Social Calendar. The post is displayed highlighted in red with an error icon. Clicking the failed post opens the error details so you can identify and resolve the issue before rescheduling.
My personal Facebook page is connected. Why can't I post to it from Thryv?
This is a limitation enforced by Meta. Meta does not allow third-party platforms like Thryv to publish posts to personal Facebook profiles. Thryv can only publish posts to Facebook Business Pages. To post to Facebook through Thryv, connect a Facebook Business Page instead of a personal profile.
My Google Business Profile is connected but I can't post to it. Why?
Only verified Google Business Profiles can publish posts. If your Google Business Profile is connected but not yet verified, you will not be able to publish posts to it from Thryv until verification is complete. For step-by-step verification instructions, see How to Verify Your Google Business Profile with Thryv.
Can I boost a post I created in Thryv?
Yes. You can boost a post that was created and published through Thryv, but the boost must be set up directly on Facebook — the boosting feature is not available inside Thryv. After the post is published, navigate to your Facebook Business Page, find the published post, and use Facebook's boost option to promote it.
Why are some posts on my Social Calendar blue and some yellow?
Post color on the Social Calendar indicates the status of Thryv-managed social content included in your plan. A yellow post indicates that the Thryv social content team is still reviewing and finalizing the post — it is not ready to publish. A blue post indicates the post has been finalized and is ready. Do not edit or publish yellow posts, as the content team has not completed the revision process for those posts.
Can I delete a post after it has been published?
Whether you can delete a published post depends on the platform. Posts published to Instagram and TikTok cannot be deleted from within Thryv. Posts published to LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Business Profile, YouTube, and Threads can be deleted from within Thryv. To delete a deletable post, find the post in your Recent Posts list or on your Social Calendar. Click the post to open it, then click the three-dot menu icon, and select Delete from the dropdown menu.
