Why Notifications Help You Respond to Customers Faster
Staying on top of incoming messages is one of the highest-impact things you can do for customer satisfaction. When a new lead reaches out, every minute of delay increases the chance they move on to a competitor.
Thryv® notifications alert you in real time when a message arrives in any channel so you can respond from your desktop without having to manually check each inbox.
The Do Not Disturb setting gives you control over when those alerts come through, so you can silence them during focus time or after hours without missing anything permanently.
How to Manage Your Notification Settings
Notification settings in Thryv are managed from the My Account section.
To access notification settings, click My Account in the left-hand navigation. Then click Notifications in the Right-hand menu.
The screenshot below shows the Notifications settings screen, which contains two toggles: Do Not Disturb and desktop notifications for new leads.
-
Do Not Disturb toggle: Click the Do Not Disturb toggle to turn it on or off. When Do Not Disturb is enabled, Thryv will not send you any notifications of any kind — including desktop alerts and Notification Bell updates — until you turn the toggle off.
Desktop notifications for new leads toggle: Click the desktop notifications toggle to turn desktop alerts on or off. When this toggle is on, your browser will display a desktop notification each time a new lead message arrives. This toggle controls desktop alerts only and does not affect the Notification Bell.
How to Use the Notification Bell
The Notification Bell appears in the My Account header and displays a count of unread notifications. When a new message arrives in any channel, Thryv adds a notification to your bell and updates the count. Click the Notification Bell icon to open the notifications panel and view your alerts.
The screenshot below shows the notifications panel, which lists individual notifications with three available actions for each.
Each notification in the panel includes the following three options:
Open — Click Open to navigate directly to the channel where the message arrived. From there you can read the message and reply or take any other action on it.
Mark as Read / Mark as Unread — Click Mark as Read to remove the notification from your unread count without clearing it from the panel. Click Mark as Unread to restore the notification to your unread count. This is useful for flagging a message you want to return to later.
Clear — Click Clear to permanently remove the notification from your panel. Clearing a notification cannot be undone. Clearing a notification does not delete the original message — the message remains in its channel and can still be accessed there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does clearing a notification delete the message? No. Clearing a notification from the Notification Bell removes only the alert from your panel. The original message remains in the channel where it was received and can still be accessed and replied to from that channel.
Does Do Not Disturb delete or hide my notifications? No. Enabling Do Not Disturb stops new notification alerts from being sent while it is active. Notifications that arrived before Do Not Disturb was turned on remain in your Notification Bell panel. Notifications that arrive while Do Not Disturb is active will not alert you, but the messages themselves are not deleted.
Can I manage notifications for individual staff members? Notification settings in this article apply to your own account only. This article does not cover staff-level notification permissions. For information about staff settings, see your staff management settings in Thryv.
Does this article cover mobile push notifications? No. For push notifications on the Thryv mobile app, see Enable Notifications on Your Mobile Device.
