This article covers how to select and customize an invoice template in Thryv Business Center™, including how to choose a layout, upload a cover image, and set your brand color and logo size. This article does not cover how to create or send an invoice. To learn how to create and send an invoice, see How to Create and Send an Invoice in Thryv Business Center. This article does not cover how to set your business brand color. To learn how to update your brand color, see How to Set Your Business Brand Color in Thryv Business Center.
Why customizing your invoice template strengthens your brand
Every invoice you send is a touchpoint with your client. A professionally designed invoice that reflects your brand colors, logo, and style reinforces your business identity and builds trust with clients at the moment they are reviewing what they owe. Thryv Business Center offers three invoice layouts to match different business needs whether you want a clean digital invoice, a branded cover image, or a printed invoice designed to mail in a standard envelope. Customizing your invoice template takes only a few minutes and applies automatically to every invoice you send going forward.
How to access your invoice template settings
To access your invoice template settings, click Settings in the left-hand navigation of Thryv Business Center. Inside Settings, click Payments.
Inside the Payments settings, click Templates to open the invoice template selector.
How to choose an invoice layout
The Templates section displays three available invoice layouts. To preview any layout at full size before selecting it, hover over the layout thumbnail and click the magnifying glass icon that appears. The three available layouts are:
- Classic — The standard invoice layout. The Classic layout supports customization of your brand color and logo size. This layout is best suited for invoices sent and viewed digitally.
- Styled — A layout that includes a cover image at the top of your invoice. With the Styled layout, you can upload a custom cover image to display on every invoice you send. This layout is best suited for businesses that want a visually branded invoice experience for their clients.
- Letter (US) — A layout designed to be printed and mailed in a standard number 10 single-window envelope. The Letter (US) layout formats your invoice so the client's mailing address is positioned to show through the envelope window. See the important address requirement for this layout in the section below before selecting it.
Address requirement for the Letter (US) invoice layout
If you select the Letter (US) layout, the client's mailing address must be entered using a Google-powered address suggestion. When entering or updating a client's address in their client card, begin typing the address in the address field and wait for the Google address suggestions to appear. Click the correct address from the Google suggestions list to select it. Do not manually type the full address without selecting it from the Google suggestions list. If the address is typed manually without selecting from the Google suggestions, the client's address will not display correctly on the printed Letter (US) invoice.
How to upload a cover image for the Styled invoice layout
If you select the Styled layout, a cover image field will appear at the top of your template preview. To add or change the cover image, click directly on the image area in the template preview. A file selection window will open with two options: upload an image from your device, or select an image from your Thryv Gallery. After selecting your image, click Save to apply the cover image to your Styled invoice template.
How to set your brand color and logo size on your invoice
Below the layout selector, the Templates section displays options to adjust your Brand Color and Logo Size for your invoice. The brand color applied here is pulled from your business brand color, which is configured separately in your business settings. To update the brand color used across all of Thryv Business Center, see How to Set Your Business Brand Color in Thryv Business Center Adjust the logo size slider to control how large your business logo appears on your invoices.
How to save your invoice template changes
After selecting your layout, uploading any cover image, and adjusting your brand color and logo size, click Save at the top of the Templates screen to apply your changes. Template changes take effect on all invoices created and sent after the save is completed. Template changes do not apply retroactively to invoices that have already been sent to clients.

How do I remove a column?
Thanks for your question @...! Unfortunately there is not a way to remove a column. We can absolutely create a request in our feedback center for this.
Which column are you looking to remove? Are you looking to hide prices for line items? If that's the case you can hide prices for individual line items by adding them to a section, would you like instructions on that? Or looking to solve a different problem?
I want to hide the tax column. And before you ask, I dont want to turn off tax tracking, I only want to hide the tax code. Is this possible?
@... aha! While not every column can be removed, the tax column absolutely is possible. To do this, navigate to Settings>Payments>Invoices & Estimates>Display Taxes per Item. There, you can set the tax column to off. Apologies for the confusion before as not every column can be customised, but this one can, thanks for your question!
