Exclude clients based on a tag for emails
My company holds paid events of up to 100 people. Needless to say I have a rather large list of clients. When I have a new event I would like to email my clients and let them know. The issue is I don't want to bother any client that already has an event booked with me in the coming weeks. I also don't want to bother any clients that already attended an event of this exact kind. So I'd love to be able to identify those clients and add a tag to them, then when I send my announcement email I could choose to exclude that tag and send to the tags I wish to send to.
The workaround... Right know I have to export all of my data the morning of the announcement and manually tag everyone I wish to send the email to, then import all the data again, then send to that tag. This process is terribly inefficient. Any help here would be appreciated. :)
Thank you,
Andrew

Andrew, you asked and we listened!
I'm happy to let you know that the integration with Google Sheets is now a 2-way sync!
It won't be an automatic sync, but you can return to the app and export your Business Center information (including tags) to the same Google Sheet. You can then make the necessary updates in your Google sheet and re-import!
As you mentioned, this will ensure that the spreadsheet you are importing will always be up to date. We are excited to launch this update to speed up your workflow! -
Great news Andrew! We are working on a feature that will help with this!
Instead of repeatedly downloading and re-uploading a spreadsheet, we are building a feature where you will be able to directly sync with a Google Sheet. Instead of exporting your attendees, you can simply query the spreadsheet, run the sync, and your CRM will automatically update, no import/export required!
We'll be sure to come back here and notify you when this feature is released, be on the lookout for it soon! Thank you for your valuable contributions!0 -
Thanks for the fast response! Question though... Will this be a 2-way sync, or just a 1 way (from sheet to CRM).
This feature would need to be 2-way IMO. If a client in CRM purchases something and flips from a lead to a customer I need to see that in the Sheet. That will affect who I'd like to tag for my new email campaign. Importing a sheet filled with outdated data will cause new issues.
Thank you,
Andrew

Great question! The initial release will be a 1-way sync from Google Sheets to Thryv. There are updates including a 2 way sync on the roadmap afterward
While it is 1 way, you would still be able to export a 2nd sheet and query clients that have changed information, and the information would save without having to re-upload, which would result in a faster process.
We can be sure to post here and notify you directly when both phases of this are released, thanks again!0 -
Andrew, I'm happy to let you know that the Google Sheets integration is here.
At launch, it is a 1-way sync from Sheets to Business Center, and it can only add information, not remove it, which means it can't remove tags from your clients. There are plans to release further enhancements to the sync. While at launch it can't do everything needed for your use case, it should result in a faster way to import the tags for your clients as you would only have to maintain one sheet instead of multiple exports when you add the tag for your announcement
We would love to know your additional feedback on the app or how we can better serve your workflow.
In addition, we welcome other Thryv users to post workarounds that they have found for situations such as this!0
