Keep your invoices organized and easy to read with sections! You can also use sections to create subtotals and customize the way you display prices to clients. This guide will show how you can add sections to your invoices
Create Sections
You can add headers to the line items in your invoice to organize it more clearly for your customers. To add a section, click on Add An Item Header
A field will appear to create the name for your header. Enter a name and click on Save
Any items added to the invoice will be added under the current header. You can click and drag each item to the header you would like if it is not in the correct place.
Each header will automatically sub-total the items contained within it. The full sub-total will still display at the bottom of the invoice.
If you would like to change this, click on Customize Headers. Use the toggles that appear to turn these sub-totals on or off, and to show or hide the prices for individual line items. You can opt to show all prices, line items and headers, just headers, just line items, or neither.
Note: Creating Headers on your invoice will not give your customers the ability to pay by the header, they will still be required to pay the whole invoice as normal. They can still make partial payments, provided this is allowed in your settings, but partial payments will not apply to a particular header.
You can also change the order of your headers by clicking and dragging on them in the same way as line items. Note that when doing so, only the header will move. The items under that header will also have to be moved individually if this is desired.
Customize Pricing Display
You are also able to use headers to customize how prices display. Use the toggle Show Subtotals for Item Headers to subtotal each section.
You also have the ability to hide prices for individual items and just show the subtotals, by setting the toggle for Show prices for line items to off
The individual item prices will still display for you, but will not appear to your clients. Prices not displayed to customers will appear as greyed out.
You also can set both toggles to off to hide prices altogether.
All prices for individual items will be hidden for your customers and all that will be displayed is the total.
