Setting up your Thryv Marketing Center takes just a few easy steps! This guide will cover everything you need to get started!
The first time Marketing Center is opened you will be prompted to complete the setup guide.
Add Business Categories
First, you'll need to add the business categories you like to promote in Marketing Center. You can add up to 3 categories for your business. Click the drop-down field to select from available categories, and choose up to 3.
For Marketing Center, a category refers to the search term customers will use to find your business. These categories are determined by search engines and directory sites according to their methods for categorizing businesses, not by Thryv. If you can't find an exact match, use the best possible match.
Note: For Marketing Center, the categories you choose don't necessarily need to be the main categories for your business. Rather, these should be the categories of your business you plan to use Marketing Center to promote.
Select Business Subcategories
Next, you'll select your business subcategories. Subcategories allow you to describe your service offering more accurately. Choose up to 5 additional subcategories that most closely describe the services provided by your business. This will ensure that your YP.com listing is optimized and assists your customers to find your business.
For example, contractor is a main category, and plumbing, heating contractor, or HVAC contractor are subcategories.
Verify Website URL
Next, enter your Website URL. Note that this must be an actual website, as a website is required to use Marketing Center. A social media URL or landing page will not have the necessary information. This is an important step because this is the website from which Marketing Center will pull content when creating your advertisements.
Create Landing Page for Ads
The next step is to create a URL for your landing page.
A Landing Page is an online destination where potential customers are taken when they click on your ad. A landing page is designed to give customers information about your business and drive them to take an action (phone call, schedule an appointment, etc.). By design, it is smaller than a website and has the singular goal of converting leads.
Enter the desired URL for your landing page in the space provided, and Marketing Center will create a landing page with that URL if available, or it will offer alternatives that attempt to match your request as close as possible if the requested one is already in use.
To connect your Facebook page, enter your URL and Facebook Page ID in the space provided. If you do not have a Facebook page or do not wish to connect one, click on I don't have a Facebook page. You can then either continue without a Facebook page or have Thryv create one for you.
Note: If you have an Instagram page as well, and it is connected to your Facebook page, it will automatically be connected in this step. There is no need to enter an Instagram URL
If you connect a Facebook page to Marketing Center, you will be advised to be on the lookout for an email advising your next steps. These "next steps" will include granting Thryv access to your Facebook page so that the ads created in Marketing Center can run on Facebook. This is a required step in order for Marketing Center to advertise on Facebook. Marketing Center will not post anything on your Facebook page other than ads created in Marketing Center.
Note: If you also have Social Presence Management included in your regular Thryv package, ads posted by Marketing Center will be separate from that.
If you clicked on I don't have a Facebook page, you can continue without a Facebook page, keep in mind the Facebook and Instagram ad channels will be locked from use.
Note: There also will be a link on the budget allocation screen if you would like to go back later and connect a Facebook page.
After this step is complete, you have finished the onboarding wizard!
