Your Journey from Signup to Results
Here's what happens after you sign up and what you can expect at each stage:
Sales & Onboarding Preparation
After purchasing, your Thryv Business Advisor will prepare for your onboarding call. You'll be asked to gather your Facebook and LinkedIn login credentials so everything is ready to go.
Onboarding Call
Your Client Success Manager and Business Advisor will walk you through the service, get platform access set up, and learn about your business goals. This is your chance to share what makes your business unique so our Social Team can build campaigns that sound like you.
Ad Creation & Preview
Within 3-5 business days of your onboarding call, you'll receive a preview email with your proposed ads for review. This is your opportunity to give feedback before anything goes live. If we don't hear back in 7 days, we'll go ahead with the proposed design.
Automatic Launch
After 7 calendar days your ads launch automatically. If you've requested changes the team will make them. All you need to do is provide your feedback on the proposal, and we'll launch the ads. You don't need to log in to your Facebook account and post the ads yourself.
Campaign Optimization — Days 1-90
Thryv Social Ads is a compounding strategy, and the first 90 days are where your patience starts to pay off. Your Social Team runs one ad per month and monitors performance data to identify which ad resonates most with your audience. At the end of the first quarter, the team shifts budget toward the best-performing ad to maximize results in the second quarter. The first 30 days focus on data collection. The goal is learning which users are most likely to engage with your business. By day 60, optimization is active. By day 90, your campaign has enough performance data to deliver consistent, targeted results.
Ongoing Management
Our social team continuously monitors and optimizes your campaign. You'll receive monthly performance reports so you always know how your ads are performing.
Quarterly Refresh
Your campaign gets a full creative refresh with new ad previews so your content stays fresh and relevant.
Setting Realistic Expectations
This is the most important section of this guide. Thryv Social Ads is not a leads product. It is a brand awareness and engagement tool designed to get your business in front of the right people consistently over time. The goal is visibility, recognition, and clicks, not direct leads or guaranteed calls.
If you are looking for a product designed to drive direct leads to your business, ask your Thryv Business Advisor about Thryv Leads which are built specifically for that. If you haven't heard of it, Click Here to learn more about Thryv Leads. Thryv Social Ads is not a switch you flip and instantly get calls. It's a compounding strategy that builds momentum over time. Here's what that actually looks like:
- Month 1 — Your campaign launches and the algorithm starts learning. Impressions and reach build. CTR may be modest as the system finds your best audience.
- Month 2 — Optimization kicks in. You'll start seeing stronger CTR as the best performing ad gets more budget and reach.
- Month 3 — Your campaign is now hitting its stride. CTR should be approaching or exceeding the industry benchmark. Reach is wider, clicks are more consistent.
- Months 4-6 — Your campaign has exited the learning phase and the algorithms will continue to deliver the ad to the people who are most likely to click and engage.
The customers who see the best results from Thryv Social Ads are the ones who give the campaign time to optimize and stay engaged with their monthly reports.
Connect Your Meta Account
Before your campaign can launch, you'll need to give Thryv access to your Facebook and Instagram accounts. This is a quick one-time step that makes everything else possible.
Watch our short video walkthrough to connect your account in minutes.
To connect your Facebook page access:
1. Log in to Facebook. Click your profile photo in the top right corner of the Facebook homepage.
2. Click See All Profiles and select the Facebook page you want to connect to your Social Ads campaign.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.
4. Click Page Setup in the left-hand navigation, then click Page Access.
5. Find the Thryv access request in the Page Access section. Click Approve, then click Confirm.
Once you click Confirm, Thryv has the access needed to launch your campaign. Your ads will run smoothly, launch without delays, and remain fully compliant with Facebook's requirements.
Note: Connecting your Facebook account also connects your Instagram account, as they are both part of Meta. There is not a separate connection process for Instagram.
If the Thryv access request does not appear in your Page Access section, or if anything looks incorrect, contact your Business Advisor for assistance.
Understanding Your Monthly Report
When your report lands in your email inbox every month, here's exactly what it means and why it matters.
- Impressions The number of times your ad was shown on screen. Think of this as your billboard count, or how many times someone drove past your ad. A growing impressions number means your campaign is gaining visibility.
- Reach The unique number of people who saw your ad at least once. Where impressions count every view, reach counts every person. This tells you how wide your net is actually casting.
- Impressions vs Reach You'll notice impressions are always higher than reach. That's normal and actually a good thing. It means the same people are seeing your ad multiple times which builds brand recognition over time. Customers rarely act on the first impression.
- Clicks The number of times someone clicked, tapped, or swiped on your ad. This is the action metric. People who clicked were interested enough to want to know more.
- Click Through Rate (CTR) This is the percentage of people who saw your ad and clicked on it. CTR is the single most important number in your report because it tells you how compelling your ad is to the right audience.
Here's what good looks like:
- Industry average CTR: 1% to 1.5%
- Strong performance target: 2%
- Thryv Social Ads average CTR (as of April 2026): 2.39%
If your CTR is above 1.5%, your campaign is performing well. If it's above 2%, you're beating the industry. Don't panic if your first month is lower or if over the next six months you see some variation/ Campaigns typically improve as the algorithm learns your audience.
- Trend Charts Your report includes 6-month trend charts for Impressions, Reach, and Clicks. These charts show the bigger picture of your campaign's progress over time. A single month doesn't tell the whole story. Look for the upward trend over time.
- Historical Performance Table At the bottom of your report you'll find a month-by-month breakdown of every key metric. This is where you can see your campaign improving over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why haven't I gotten calls yet? Thryv Social Ads build awareness and drive people to your website or landing page. Calls come as a downstream result of visibility. The more people see your business consistently, the more likely they are to reach out when they need you. If you're not seeing calls by month 4 or 5 talk to your Business Advisor about your landing page and call-to-action setup.
My CTR looks low, should I be worried? A CTR above 1% is at or above industry average. Thryv's average across all Social Ads campaigns is 2.39%, which beats the industry benchmark. If your CTR is below 1% in month 2 or later, reach out to your Business Advisor so the team can review your campaign.
Can I change my ad creative? Yes. You can submit creative requests or feedback to our Social Team at any time through your Thryv Business Advisor. Campaigns also receive a full quarterly refresh automatically.
What does Thryv actually do each month? Your Social Team monitors your campaign performance 24/7, optimizes budget toward the best performing ads, and sends you a monthly report. You don't need to log into anything or manage anything. It's all handled for you. We’ll partner with you on ad best practices and welcome your creative input to get the best possible ad that represents your business and current needs.
What's the difference between Impressions and Reach? Impressions count every time your ad appeared on screen. Reach counts unique people. If one person saw your ad 5 times that's 5 impressions but 1 reach. Both matter, impressions build familiarity, reach builds your audience.
I don't see the Facebook account I want to add under See All Profiles.
This means you are not the owner of the Facebook page for the business. You'll need to have the Facebook page owner complete this process or gain ownership of the page yourself. This must be done through Meta and Thryv is not able to assist with this process.
