Why Set Up Invoice Reminders
You did the work, you sent the invoice, and now you are waiting to get paid. Invoice reminders in Thryv Business Center handle the follow-up for you, so you do not have to manually chase down every unpaid invoice or remember which clients still owe you money. Automated reminders keep your unpaid invoices visible to your clients without the awkward phone calls, reduce the number of overdue invoices in your account, and let you focus on new work instead of collections. Your clients pay on time more often, and you spend zero time tracking who owes what.
This article walks you through how to set up invoice reminders in Thryv Business Center, including configuring reminders for yourself and your clients, choosing the timing of each reminder, and customizing the reminder message. How to Open the Invoice Reminder Settings
To open the invoice reminder settings, click Settings in the left-hand navigation of Thryv Business Center.
The left-hand navigation displays the main menu options in Thryv Business Center. The Settings option leads to the account configuration screen where automated messaging settings, including invoice reminders, can be managed.
Inside Settings, click Auto Client Messages & SMS to open the automated messaging configuration.
The Settings menu displays several configuration categories. The Auto Client Messages & SMS option leads to the screen where automated messages for invoices, appointments, and other client communications are configured.
Inside Auto Client Messages & SMS, click Payments to access the invoice reminder configuration specifically.
The Auto Client Messages & SMS screen displays categories for different types of automated messages. The Payments category contains the configuration for invoice reminder messages and timing.
Choose Who Receives the Invoice Reminder
Inside the Payments section, use the first dropdown to choose who will receive the invoice reminder. Two options are available:
Remind Me. Sends an internal reminder to a staff member, delivered as a Thryv inbox message and an email letting the staff member know the client has an invoice due. The client is not notified.
Remind Client. Sends the reminder directly to the client by email. If selected, the client also receives a text message (SMS) reminder that their invoice is due.
Set the Timing of the Invoice Reminder
Use the second dropdown to set when the reminder is sent relative to the invoice due date. The reminder timing is calculated based on the due date set on each individual invoice, so the same reminder timing applies across all of your invoices.
The animated demonstration shows the two dropdowns on the Payments screen. The first dropdown selects between Remind Me and Remind Client, and the second dropdown selects when the reminder is sent based on the invoice due date.
Customize the Invoice Reminder Message
Below the dropdowns, the Text Box displays the message that will be sent with the reminder. You can edit the message directly in the text box to customize the wording. The customized message will be used for every invoice reminder sent with these settings.
The Text Box editor displays the current reminder message text. The message can be edited directly in the text box to match your business's tone and any specific language you want your clients to receive in their reminder.
Once you have configured the recipient, timing, and message, your invoice reminder settings are saved automatically. Clients will receive reminders based on these settings according to the due date set on each invoice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Remind Me and Remind Client?
Remind Me sends an internal notification to a staff member through the Thryv inbox and email. The client is not notified. Remind Client sends the reminder directly to the client by email, with the option to also send a text message (SMS) reminder. Use Remind Me when you want to follow up manually, and use Remind Client when you want the system to follow up automatically.
Can clients receive SMS reminders for invoices?
Yes. When configuring the Remind Client option, you can select to include a text message (SMS) reminder in addition to the email reminder. The client receives both notifications based on the timing you configured.
When is the reminder sent in relation to the invoice due date?
The reminder timing is set in the second dropdown on the Payments screen and is calculated based on the due date of each individual invoice. The same timing setting applies to all invoices in your account.
Can I customize what the reminder message says?
Yes. The Text Box on the Payments screen contains the default reminder message and is fully editable. Update the message to match your business's tone or include specific language you want your clients to receive in the reminder.

Yes. The reminder settings configured on the Payments screen apply to every invoice in your account. To change the timing or message for a specific invoice only, edit that invoice individually.
