Why Deactivating Is Better Than Deleting a Staff Member
When a staff member leaves your business, deactivating their account in Thryv Business Center™ instead of deleting it preserves all of their historical data. Past appointments, invoices, and conversations with customers remain intact and accessible under the deactivated staff member's record. Deleting a staff member permanently removes that history, which can create gaps in your client records and reporting. Deactivating keeps your data clean while preventing the staff member from accessing your Thryv Business Center account.
How to Deactivate a Staff Member
Follow these steps to deactivate a staff member in Thryv Business Center.
- Navigate to Staff Settings
Click Settings in the left-hand navigation. Then click Staff. The Staff page displays a list of all active staff members on your Thryv Business Center account.
- Set the staff member as inactive
Locate the staff member you want to deactivate. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to their name. Select Set As Inactive from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm the staff member is deactivated
Once you select Set As Inactive, the staff member will remain visible on the Staff page but will appear greyed out. A deactivated staff member cannot log in to Thryv Business Center, access client records, or set appointments.
How to Reactivate a Staff Member
If you need to restore a deactivated staff member's access to Thryv Business Center, follow these steps.
- Locate the deactivated staff member
Click Settings in the left-hand navigation. Then click Staff. Locate the greyed-out staff member you want to reactivate on the Staff page.
- Set the staff member as active
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the deactivated staff member's name. Select Set As Active from the dropdown menu.
Once you select Set As Active, the staff member's account is restored. They will be able to log in to Thryv Business Center, access client records, and set appointments again.
