Why am I being asked to re-verify my number when it was already verified and working before?
We know this is frustrating, and we’d like to explain why mobile carriers are asking for this now. This is not a Thryv (or Keap) policy, but an industry wide policy brought on by the mobile carriers in the US, such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
Mobile carriers in connection with the FCC and CTIA Guidelines have forced all businesses that wish to use SMS to verify their businesses with mandatory information noted below. These requirements have changed over the past several years and have become stricter in the past year specifically. The carriers are now not allowing traffic to traverse their wireless networks without being fully verified.
What do I need to do in order to be compliant and verified?
The carriers are looking for three major things:
- Legal Business Registration: You must have a legally filed business registration with the country your company is located in. In the US that is an EIN, in Canada a BN, and other countries have similar registration numbers
- Opt In: You must have a compliant opt in web page or pictures available via a publicly accessible website for opt in done over texting
- Privacy Policy / Terms of Service Webpage: This must be on your publicly available domain, and must contain verbiage regarding text messaging
Are there any help pages for this? Absolutely! Our custom guide is located here: https://learn.thryv.com/hc/en-us/articles/40931563866381-Thryv-Text-Registration-and-Verification
Following that guide, using the verbiage and exmaples located there will put you on the path to ensure you are properly registered with the carriers.
