Why Connect a Public Form to Your WordPress Call-to-Action Button
A call-to-action button on your WordPress site is only valuable if it captures lead information and triggers a follow-up automatically. By linking your WordPress button directly to a public form from your CRM, every visitor who clicks the button is taken to a form that collects their name, email, and any other information you need — and sends that data straight into your CRM the moment they submit. From there, automations and follow-up sequences can start immediately, without any manual work on your part.
This article covers two steps: generating the public form link from your CRM, and applying that link to a button in WordPress. Before you begin, make sure you have access to your WordPress site editor and your CRM account.
Part 1: Create a Public Form and Copy the Link from Your CRM
Step 1: Open the Marketing Tab
In your CRM, click the Marketing tab in the left-hand navigation to open the Marketing section.
The left-hand navigation displays the main menu items. The Marketing tab is listed in the navigation menu. Clicking the Marketing tab opens the Marketing section where Forms and other marketing tools are accessible.
Step 2: Open Forms
In the Marketing section, click Forms to open the Forms page. The Forms page displays all existing forms and the option to create a new form.
The Marketing section displays a submenu of available tools. The Forms option is listed in the submenu. Clicking Forms opens the Forms page.
Step 3: Click Create Form
On the Forms page, click the Create form button to begin creating a new form.
The Forms page displays the Create form button at the top of the page. Clicking Create form opens the form type selection screen.
Step 4: Select Public
On the form type selection screen, select Public. A Public form is a form that can be embedded on or linked from an external website, such as your WordPress site. Public forms are visible to anyone who visits the link, without requiring the visitor to be logged in.
The form type selection screen displays two options: Public and Internal. The Public option is selected and highlighted. Selecting Public advances the form setup to the template selection step.
Step 5: Choose a Template
In the template drop-down, select any template to use as the starting point for your form. You can customize the form fields and design in the next step.
The template drop-down displays a list of available form templates. Select any template from the list. The template determines the initial layout and fields of the form, all of which can be customized before publishing.
Step 6: Click Start Building Your Form
After selecting a template, click the Start building your form button to open the form builder.
The form setup screen displays a preview of the selected template and the Start building your form button below it. Clicking the button opens the form builder where you can add and edit form fields.
Step 7: Build Your Public Form
In the form builder, add the fields you want to collect from leads — such as name, email address, and phone number. Customize the form design and style to match your brand. For detailed instructions on building a public form, see how to set up a public form to post on your website.
Step 8: Copy the Form Link from the Publish Step
When you reach the Publish step in the form builder, click the Copy link button to copy the public URL for your form. Paste this link into a text editor so you have it available for the WordPress steps below.
The Publish step displays the form preview alongside sharing options. The Copy link button is located on the right side of the Publish step screen. Clicking Copy link copies the public URL for the form to your clipboard. This is the URL you will paste into your WordPress button in Part 2.
Part 2: Add a Call-to-Action Button in WordPress and Apply the Form Link
Step 1: Open the Block Inserter in WordPress
In the WordPress block editor, click the Toggle block inserter icon in the upper-left corner of the editor to open the block inserter panel. The Toggle block inserter icon displays a plus sign and is located at the top left of the WordPress editor toolbar.
The WordPress block editor toolbar is displayed at the top of the editor. The Toggle block inserter icon — a plus sign — is located at the far left of the toolbar. Clicking it opens the block inserter panel on the left side of the editor, which displays a searchable list of available blocks.
Step 2: Select the Buttons Block
In the block inserter panel, click Buttons to select the Buttons block. You can also search for "Buttons" in the search field at the top of the block inserter panel to locate it quickly.
The block inserter panel displays a list of available WordPress blocks. The Buttons block is listed in the panel. Clicking the Buttons block selects it for placement on the page.
Step 3: Drag the Button Block to the Desired Location
Click and drag the Button block from the block inserter panel to the column or section of your WordPress page where you want the call-to-action button to appear. Release the button block in the target location to place it on the page.
The WordPress editor displays the Button block being dragged from the block inserter to the page. A blue placement indicator appears in the target column to show where the block will be placed when released.
Step 4: Enter the Button Text
Click on the Button block that was placed on the page and type the text you want to display on the button. Use action-oriented text that tells the visitor what will happen when they click — for example, "Get a Free Quote," "Sign Up Now," or "Contact Us Today."
The Button block is placed on the page with a text cursor active inside the button element. The button text is visible inside the button. The block toolbar appears above the button with formatting and link options.
Step 5: Open the Link Field
With the Button block selected, click the Link icon in the Button block toolbar to open the link input field. The Link icon appears in the toolbar that displays directly above the selected button on the page.
The Button block toolbar displays above the selected button on the page. The Link icon is visible in the toolbar. Clicking the Link icon opens the URL input field where the form link will be pasted.
Step 6: Paste the Form Link
In the link input field that appears below the button, paste the public form URL you copied from the Publish step of the form builder in Part 1, Step 8. Press Enter or click the Apply button to save the link and apply it to the button.
The link input field is displayed below the Button block on the page. The public form URL from the CRM has been pasted into the input field. Pressing Enter or clicking the Apply button saves the link and connects the button to the public form. When a visitor clicks the button on your WordPress site, they will be taken directly to the public form to submit their information.
