- Opt Out for Integrators/Applications
Brownouts are scheduled temporary outages designed to help you identify which of your systems still depend on XMLRPC. While we strongly recommend participating, you can opt out if you need uninterrupted service during your migration.
Opt-Out Process for Keap Customers
1. Submit Your Request
Email api-requests.keap@thryv.com with the subject line "XMLRPC Brownout Opt-Out Request" and include:
Your account/application information
Opt-out start date (optional)
Opt-back-in date (optional, if you want to rejoin testing later)
Example:
2. Allow Processing Time
Your opt-out request will take effect within 2 business days. Plan accordingly if a brownout is scheduled soon.
Your Keap application will not be disrupted during this time. This will only impact XMLRPC API calls.
Important Things to Know
What Opting Out Means:
- You will not experience any XMLRPC service interruptions during scheduled brownouts
- You are opting out for your entire application, not individual APIs or endpoints
- You will miss the opportunity to safely identify any remaining XMLRPC dependencies before the final deadline
- You will need to validate your migration completeness through other testing methods
- The brownouts increase in length as time gets nearer to the deadline
What Doesn't Change:
The December 31, 2026 deadline is firm - opting out does not extend your migration timeline
- REST services are never affected by brownouts, whether you opt out or not
- You can opt back in at any time by emailing the same address
Recommendations
We encourage you to participate in brownout testing because:
- It's the safest way to find hidden XMLRPC dependencies
- Finding issues during brownouts gives you time to fix them
- Real-world testing validates your migration is truly complete
- There's no risk to your data or permanent service
If you must opt out, consider:
- Opting out only during critical business periods
- Opting back in for later brownouts to validate your progress
- Using our migration validation tools to test independently
