The Assign an Owner action in the automation builder lets you automatically route a contact to the right team member the moment a campaign sequence step is triggered with no manual reassignment, no dropped leads, no confusion about who's responsible.
Use this feature to route new leads to a sales rep, hand off a contact after a purchase, or reassign ownership when a contact moves to a new stage in your pipeline.
How to Add an Assign an Owner Step in a Sequence
- Double-click on the sequence you wish to edit or create a new sequence.
- Search or scroll down and select Assign an Owner.
- Double-click it to configure the settings.
- To configure owner assignment, select Assign to User. This option allows you assign the contact record to a specific user in your application.
- Click Save.
- Continue building your automation and publish your changes once complete.
FAQ
Can I assign a contact to a team instead of a specific user? The Assign an Owner action assigns a contact to a specific user in your CRM. Assigning contacts to a team is not supported within this action.
Can I reassign ownership more than once in the same sequence? Yes. You can add multiple Assign an Owner steps at different points in a sequence to reassign ownership as a contact moves through your pipeline.
What happens to the contact's previous owner when I assign a new one? The Assign an Owner action replaces the existing owner with the user you select. The previous owner is removed from the contact record.
