How to Export Your Payroll
First, navigate to Payroll in your left-hand navigation.
Next, click Run a Report to open the configuration panel.
In the window that appears, select whether to run a Payroll Journal, which is a report of past earnings and taxes for employees by payroll, or a Custom Report, where you can customize the filters and dates included in the report. A payroll journal starts with certain columns for payroll information already checked, though you can still customize further. By contrast, a custom report starts "blank" and you must check the boxes for all columns you wish to include. However, the process is the same for each.
First, determine which columns you want to have included on your report. Use the drop-downs to expand each set of columns. To include a column in the report, check the box for it.
- Payroll Columns - Information about the pay cycle in which the payroll was run
- Employee Columns - Information about the employees receiving pay including but not limited to their employment information, contact information, and tax information
- Work Address Columns - information about the work site(s) where work was completed
- Employer Columns - Information about your business and the payroll costs incurred
If you need to drill down to specific dates or groups, simply check the box next to a filter to open its settings and apply your criteria. Check the box to apply each desired filter.
Once a filter is selected, the information will drop-down below it to apply the filter.
Once you have determined which columns to include and applied any necessary filters, click on Generate Report
Your report will instantly download to your device as a .csv file.
You've successfully exported your payroll records. This simple, quick process gives you a reliable, organized file that serves as your single source of truth for all things payroll. You now have the accurate data you need: ready for your accountant, prepared for any audit, and immediately accessible for resolving employee questions. By managing these essential compliance tasks quickly and efficiently, you can free up your time and energy to focus on growing your business with confidence.
