A smooth and efficient workflow is essential for any business. When you have a large number of products, manually entering them into your business management software can be a time-consuming and tedious process. This article will guide you through the simple steps of importing your products, helping you save time and ensure accuracy across your CRM, invoicing, and appointment scheduling systems in Thryv Business Center. Importing is the most efficient way to populate your product catalog, saving significant time by eliminating manual data entry. By leveraging the import tool, you can quickly populate your account with all your product details, allowing you to focus on running your business.
To get started, navigate to Settings, then click on Products.
Then, in the top section, click on Import Products
Prepare Your Product List for Import
In the window that appears, you will see a guide to prepare your product list for import. To ensure your products import successfully, make sure the following items are formatted correctly in your spreadsheet.
- Product name, Product price, and SKU are required
- Product name and SKU must be unique. If a Product name or SKU already exists, it will be skipped on import.
- Price and cost fields should be numbers only, without any symbols
- Columns must appear in this order, including ones you’re not filling out: SKU/Item #, Product name, Product price, Product description, Product cost
To ensure your sheet is formatted correctly, download the template from the available link, and use the header row it contains so that your information is compatible with Thryv Business Center. While this step is not required, it is very highly recommended.
Once your sheet is formatted correctly, click on Next to complete the next step.
Upload Your File
To upload your file, click and drag it into the upload area, or click on the Upload Button to browse your device's file explorer for the file. Once you've added your file, click on Next.
Add Taxes
Next, check the box for up to 3 taxes available in Thryv Business Center to apply to all products on the import. Any taxes selected will apply to all imported products. If the tax you wish to add does not already exist in Thryv Business Center, click on +Add New Tax to add it here. Once finished, click on Next.
Confirm and Import
On the final screen, you will see the number of products that will successfully import. Refer to the FAQ below for reasons why certain products may not import. Once you are ready, click on Import to begin the import. The available products will be added to Thryv Business Center.
FAQ
Why didn't all of my products import?
Check that all required fields (Product name, Product price, and SKU) are included. Product name and SKU must be unique, they can not be duplicated on your sheet or already appear in your product list. If there is a duplicate Product name or SKU in your sheet, or if it already exists in Thryv Business Center, only the first one will import, and the remainder will be skipped.
Some information about my products, like the price, has changed. Can I import a new price list?
No, importing is only for adding new products. If an item already exists in Thryv Business Center, it will not be imported.
