Enable your customers to save or manage their card on file with you to increase revenue and make it more convenient for your customers to pay you! In this article we'll describe how to enable cards on file and how your customers can make changes.
Note: This functionality is only available for users who are connected to ThryvPay or Stripe. It is not available if you are using Square to process payments.

Send a Request for a Customer to Save a Card on File
To send a request for a customer to save their own card on file, navigate to their Client Card. Then, on the right-hand side, under Payment Method, click on +Add New
In the pop-up that appears, click on Request Card.
Next, choose a method to send the request. Select the radio button for either SMS or Email. Once selected, click on Send Request.
A secure link will be sent to this client inviting them to save a credit card for future use. When your client clicks on the link in their email or phone, they will be taken to the client portal to enter their credit card information. When finished, your client must click on Save Card. There is a checkbox for them to set this card as their default payment method.
Manage Cards on File in Client Portal
When your client is in their client portal, they are able to view and manage all of their stored cards. In the client portal, your customers are able to add a new card on file (including without an invitation), delete a card on file, and set a new default card to use.
In order for your client to view their stored card(s) on file, they must follow these steps.
Cards on file are saved under My Account, which can be found by clicking on the three bars in the top-left corner.
Next, click on Payment Methods.
All of your client's saved payment methods will appear here. To take an action on a saved payment method, click on the tri-dots. The actions available are:
- Set card as default
- Delete this card
Note: Only one card can be set as the default payment method at a time.
To add a new card on file, click on the + icon in the lower right corner.

Can my customer store more than one card on file?
Yes, although only one card at a time can be default.
Can my customer edit a card they have already saved?
No, they are only able to delete the previous card and then add a new one.
Do I have to send an invitation in order for my customer to save their card on file?
No, your customer is able to save a card on file on their own through the client portal.
