Where are my legacy emails?
All legacy emails — including emails saved as templates and previously sent emails — are available in the My Templates tab in the new email builder.
The screenshot above shows the My Templates tab in the new Keap email builder. The tab displays all legacy email templates that were previously created in the legacy email builder. Legacy emails can be searched by template name or subject line from this tab.
Can I search legacy emails by template name and subject line?
Yes. Legacy emails can be searched by template name and subject line. The search applies to emails in the My Templates tab, the Sent emails tab, and the Drafts tab. New templates created in the new email builder can currently only be searched by template name. New drafts and sent emails in the new builder can be searched by template name and subject line. This search feature is not available for Keap Classic accounts. For more information about searching templates, see how to search templates in the Keap email builder.
When was the legacy email builder retired?
The legacy email builder was retired on March 25, 2025. There were no extensions to this deadline. As of March 25, 2025, new emails can no longer be created using the legacy email builder.
Do I need to convert my legacy emails?
Only if you need to edit them. Existing legacy emails continue to function as they are — published automation continues to run and scheduled broadcasts continue to send. However, editing any legacy email requires opening and converting it in the new email builder first. There is no deadline for converting legacy emails — conversion can be done at any time on an as-needed basis.
What is different about the new email builder?
The new Keap email builder includes the following improvements over the legacy email builder:
More user-friendly design — A modern, intuitive interface makes email creation faster and simpler.
New features — Create emails faster, send test emails to non-users, add emojis, and access additional formatting options.
Improved technology — Built on updated infrastructure for better performance and long-term support.
Why was the legacy email builder retired?
The legacy email builder was retired to consolidate multiple email building experiences into a single, unified new email builder for all Keap users. This transition allows Keap to focus development resources on improving and expanding the new email builder rather than maintaining multiple separate tools.
What does the legacy email builder look like?
The following screenshot shows the legacy email builder interface to help identify whether an email was created in the legacy builder.
The screenshot above shows the Keap legacy email builder interface. The legacy email builder has a distinct layout and toolbar that differs from the new email builder. If an email opens in this interface, it was created in the legacy builder and will need to be converted to the new builder before it can be edited.
What about the original Keap Classic email builder?
The March 25, 2025 legacy email builder retirement does not affect the original Keap Classic email builder — the older builder that predates the legacy builder. All templates created in the Keap Classic email builder remain available and there is no retirement date announced for the Keap Classic email builder at this time. No action is required for Keap Classic email builder templates.
The screenshot above shows the Keap Classic email builder interface. The Keap Classic email builder is a separate tool from the legacy email builder that was retired on March 25, 2025. The Keap Classic email builder is not affected by the retirement and continues to be available with no announced sunset date.
Can I still send email broadcasts using the legacy email builder from the Contacts page?
No. Email broadcasts sent from the Contacts page now use the new email builder only. To send an email broadcast from the Contacts page, select Contacts in the navigation, then select Actions, then select Send a Broadcast. The new email builder will open automatically. This change also applies to Referral Partners, Opportunities, and Reports — anywhere the Actions menu is available in Keap Ultimate or Keap Max Classic with the option to send a broadcast, only the new email builder is available.
How do I convert my legacy emails to the new email builder?
Legacy emails can be converted to the new email builder in under 60 seconds. The video below demonstrates the conversion process. For step-by-step written instructions, see how to convert legacy emails to the new Keap email builder.
Where can I find help articles about the new email builder?
All training resources and help articles for the new Keap email builder are available at new email builder help articles and training resources.
Will my existing automation and scheduled broadcasts still work after the retirement?
Yes. Published automation continues to run and scheduled broadcasts continue to send after the March 25, 2025 retirement date. Legacy emails within automation do not need to be converted unless they need to be edited. There is no deadline for converting legacy emails within automation — conversion can be done at any time on an as-needed basis.
Will my automation reporting history be affected when I convert a legacy email?
No. Converting a legacy email to the new email builder does not affect existing automation reporting data. The conversion updates the email template while keeping all automation reporting history intact. The legacy email template will no longer be accessible in the legacy builder after conversion, but all historical reporting data associated with the email remains available.
Can I still share automation containing legacy emails through the Marketplace or Solution Launchpad?
Partners can still export automation containing legacy emails to the Marketplace and share automation with Solution Launchpad. However, starting July 14, legacy emails in automation must be converted to the new email builder before sharing with customers. Customers will receive an error when attempting to install automation that contains unconverted legacy emails and will be directed to contact the partner for assistance. Converting legacy emails to the new builder before sharing automation with customers is recommended to prevent installation errors. For conversion instructions, see how to convert legacy emails to the new Keap email builder.
What do I need to do before and after the retirement date?
Before March 25, 2025:
All legacy emails and templates are available in the My Templates tab in the new email builder.
Begin converting emails to the new email builder to become familiar with the new interface before the retirement date.
On and after March 25, 2025:
New emails can no longer be created using the legacy email builder.
Legacy draft emails are no longer accessible.
All legacy email templates remain available in the My Templates tab in the new email builder.
Published automation continues to run and scheduled broadcasts continue to send.
Partners can continue to export automation to the Marketplace and share with Solution Launchpad — however, legacy emails in automation must be converted before sharing with customers after July 14.
Can I convert legacy emails in automation on a campaign-by-campaign basis?
No. Legacy emails within automation must be reviewed and converted individually — one email at a time — when edits are needed. If no edits are needed, the automation continues to function with the legacy email and no conversion is required. Automation will continue to work with legacy emails after March 25, 2025.
If I do not have any legacy emails, do I need to take any action?
No. If the Keap account does not contain any legacy emails, no action is required.
Will there be an option to convert Keap Classic email builder templates to the new email builder?
There is no conversion option for Keap Classic email builder templates at this time. When Keap begins the process of retiring the Keap Classic email builder, advance notice will be provided with sufficient time to recreate templates in the new email builder before the Keap Classic email builder is disabled. There is no announced retirement date for the Keap Classic email builder and no action is required at this time.
