Two Ways to Automate Your Checkout Forms
When a customer submits payment on a checkout form, you can automatically trigger follow-up actions — such as sending a confirmation email, applying a tag, or creating a deal. You can set up this automation in two places: directly on the checkout form itself, or through the Easy Automations section. Both methods produce the same result; use whichever fits your workflow.
Option 1: Add Automation Directly on the Checkout Form
-
In the checkout form creation tool, click the Automate tab to open the automation configuration section.
The checkout form creation tool displays several tabs including Design, Settings, and Automate. Clicking the Automate tab opens the automation section for this specific checkout form.
-
In the Automate section, select one or more of the pre-built example automations to add them directly to the form, or click the button at the bottom of the section to build a custom automation.
The Automate section displays pre-built automation examples — such as sending a thank you email or applying a purchased tag — with toggle switches to enable each one. The Create custom automation button at the bottom opens the Easy Automation builder with the checkout form pre-selected as the trigger.
-
After configuring the automations, click the Publish button to save and activate the checkout form along with the automations.
The Publish button is located at the top right of the checkout form creation tool. Clicking Publish activates the checkout form and all configured automations immediately.
Option 2: Add Automation Through Easy Automations
-
In the left-hand navigation, click Automations to open the Easy Automations section.
- Open an existing Easy Automation you want to update, or click the + plus button to create a new automation.
-
Click the When card to open the trigger configuration panel.
-
In the trigger selection panel, select When checkout form is paid. Then select the specific checkout form you want to use as the trigger from the form selector that appears.
The trigger selection panel displays the When checkout form is paid option. After selecting it, a form selector drop-down appears listing all published checkout forms in your account. Select the checkout form you want to trigger this automation.
After configuring the trigger, continue building the automation by adding "then" actions — such as sending an email, applying a tag, or creating a deal — and publish the automation when complete. For full instructions on building and publishing an Easy Automation, see the Easy Automations setup guide.
