Why Starting With an Automation Template Saves Setup Time

Building an automation from scratch requires knowing which triggers, sequences, and goals to connect — which can take significant time for common workflows that every small business needs. Keap's pre-built automation templates provide ready-made automations for proven workflows across marketing, sales, service, and operations. Installing a template creates the full automation structure in the account instantly, so the only work needed is customizing the copy and settings to match the business.

How to Access and Install Automation Templates in Keap

Automation templates can be accessed in three ways:

• Select Automation Templates in the left-hand navigation.

• Select My Automations in the left-hand navigation, then select Create an Automation in the top right corner, then select Start From a Template.

• Install a template directly through the Solution Launchpad.

Note: If using the legacy Keap Ultimate Classic interface, toggle on the New Features tab to access Automation Templates.

The screenshot above shows the Keap left-hand navigation with the Automation Templates option visible. Selecting Automation Templates opens the template library where all twelve pre-built templates are displayed by category.

The screenshot above shows the Keap My Automations screen with the Create an Automation button. Selecting Create an Automation then Start From a Template opens the template library from within the automation creation flow.

To install a template, select the + button in the top right corner of the automation template card. An install panel opens with instructions for completing the installation. After installation, the automation appears under My Automations in the left-hand navigation. Customize the template copy and settings before activating the automation.

The screenshot above shows the Keap automation template install panel. Follow the instructions in the panel to complete the installation. The installed automation will appear in My Automations.

Marketing Automation Templates

• Contact Us — Adds website visitors who submit a Contact Us form directly to the CRM and triggers appropriate follow-up automatically.

• Lead Magnet Offer — Starts with a landing page offering a free resource in exchange for a name and email opt-in. Follows up with three emails to ensure the contact accesses the resource, then sends two additional emails encouraging a sales consultation. The automation stops when a sales consultation is scheduled.

• Newsletter Sign Up — Captures leads through a newsletter sign-up form on the business website. Delivers a welcome email and triggers a nurture sequence after the contact opts in.

Sales Automation Templates

• Bonus Content Offer — Offers bonus content that is normally an upsell alongside main offerings to help convert prospects into customers.

• Free Upgrade — Offers a limited-time promotion that upgrades the customer's purchase to the next tier.

• Loyalty Coupon — Sends an automated post-purchase coupon to encourage new customers to purchase again.

Service Automation Templates

• Referral Request — Automatically requests a referral from satisfied customers, typically triggered after a purchase and a satisfaction survey.

• Holiday Greeting — Sends automated holiday greeting messages to clients throughout the year to maintain the relationship.

• Bring a Friend — Offers a special deal when existing clients refer new friends or family members.

Operations Automation Templates

• Staff Birthday Campaign — Notifies management or admin staff before each employee's birthday and sends an automated birthday message to the employee on their birthday.

• Failed Payment Follow Up — Creates a task to follow up for an updated payment method and sends an automated email to the customer when a failed payment occurs.

• Employee of the Month — Sends a monthly survey to all employees for Employee of the Month nominations. Uses included contact groups in a custom dashboard widget to display the nominations.
