Tags are searchable labels you can apply to contact records in your CRM to organize contacts into groups, filter your contact list, and trigger automations automatically. Adding or removing tags in bulk lets you update hundreds of contacts at once — saving you from having to edit each contact record individually. For example, you can apply a "Needs Follow-Up" tag to a filtered group of contacts and trigger a follow-up sequence for all of them in one action.
How to Add or Remove Tags from Multiple Contacts at Once
- Click Contacts in the left-hand navigation menu. Then click People to open your contact list.
- Select the contacts you want to update. To update all contacts in your list, click the checkbox at the top of the contact list to select all. To update a specific group of contacts, use the search and filter options to narrow the list first, then select the contacts you want to update.
- Click Add or remove tags at the bottom of the screen after selecting your contacts. The Add or remove tags button appears at the bottom of the page once one or more contacts are selected.
- Select the tag you want to add or remove from the tag selection panel. Tags are searchable labels applied to contact records that help you manage lists and trigger automations when a specific tag is applied. Use the search field in the tag selection panel to find a specific tag quickly.
- Click Apply to add the selected tag to all selected contacts, or click Remove to remove the selected tag from all selected contacts. The tag update will be applied to every selected contact immediately.
