This article covers the third-party merchant account integrations available in Keap™ for accepting payments, including an overview of each supported merchant account, a comparison of processing fees for US customers, and how to accept Venmo and PayPal Credit alongside a non-PayPal default processor. A merchant account is a type of bank account that allows businesses to accept debit and credit card payments. This article does not cover Keap Pay. For help with Keap Pay, see how to set up Keap Pay.
Why Choose a Third-Party Merchant Account in Keap
Keap integrates with four leading payment processors — Stripe, PayPal, eWay, and Authorize.Net — to give businesses flexibility in how they accept payments. Each processor has different fee structures, supported payment types, and international availability. Keap does not charge additional fees for receiving payments through these integrations — fees are charged directly by the merchant account provider. An existing account with any of these providers can be connected to Keap, or a new account can be created during the integration setup process.
Supported Merchant Account Integrations in Keap
The following merchant accounts are supported for payment processing in Keap. For setup instructions for each processor, see the links in the Additional Resources section below.
Stripe — Stripe is a global payment processor that supports fast payment collection, fraud detection, and international transactions. Stripe integrates with Keap for processing credit and debit card payments through checkout forms, invoices, and order forms. For setup instructions, see how to connect Stripe as a payment processor in Keap.
PayPal — PayPal supports payments from over 286 million PayPal users across more than 200 markets in over 100 currencies. PayPal also supports Venmo and PayPal Credit as payment options. For setup instructions, see how to connect PayPal as a payment processor in Keap.
eWay — eWay provides merchant account services for businesses in Australia and New Zealand. When integrated with Keap, eWay processes payments through checkout forms, invoices, and manual payments, and handles recurring charges for subscriptions and payment plans. When a customer submits payment through the eWay gateway, the transaction is processed on the back end without the customer leaving the business website. For setup instructions, see how to connect eWay as a payment processor in Keap.
Authorize.Net — Authorize.Net is a payment gateway that works with a connected merchant account of your choice. Authorize.Net is processor neutral — the Authorize.Net payment gateway and transaction data can be maintained if the underlying merchant account processor is changed. For setup instructions, see how to connect Authorize.Net as a payment processor in Keap.

How to Accept Venmo and PayPal Credit With a Non-PayPal Default Processor
Venmo and PayPal Credit can be accepted as payment options even if PayPal is not the default credit card processor. For example, Stripe can be used as the default processor for credit and debit card payments while PayPal processes Venmo and PayPal Credit transactions. Follow these steps to enable this configuration:
Connect the PayPal account to Keap — see how to connect PayPal as a payment processor in Keap.
Connect the preferred merchant account for credit and debit card processing.
Confirm that the preferred merchant account is selected as the default processor for credit and debit card payments in the payment processing settings.
-
In the PayPal settings, select the Smart Payment Buttons checkbox to enable Venmo and PayPal Credit as additional payment options alongside the default processor.
The screenshot above shows the Keap PayPal payment processor settings with the Smart Payment Buttons checkbox visible. Selecting the Smart Payment Buttons checkbox enables Venmo and PayPal Credit as additional payment options. Venmo and PayPal Credit transactions are processed through the connected PayPal account while credit and debit card transactions continue to be processed through the default merchant account.
