Do you sell products online through Shopify? Would you like the clients that buy your products on your online market, to also be available for your Thryv marketing campaigns? Would you like for the payments recorded in Shopify to also be saved to your client's client card in Thryv? Then the Shopify app is the perfect integration app for your needs!
This integration will seamlessly sync your customer list from Shopify to Thryv. It will keep your Thryv client list updated with your Shopify Store customers. This integration will also record your customers' Shopify payments in their client card under the payments tab in Thryv. By integrating your Shopify clients with Thryv, you can market back out to these clients and also keep an accurate interaction history for those clients, among all our other Thryv benefits.
Let's get started by getting your Shopify App installed.
Locate the Shopify App in the App Market and click on Get This App
You will be taken to the App Store within Shopify. Click on Install
If you aren't already logged into Shopify, you will be prompted to do so. Sign in with your Shopify credentials
After logging into Shopify, choose a Shopify account to continue.
You will be brought to the app in Shopify. Review the permissions being shared between Thryv and Shopify. Click on Install App to agree and start the installation.
Next, agree to the terms and conditions within Thryv and enter your Shopify Store Address
*What is your Shopify address? I am so glad you asked. It is the URL for your online store. It is formatted, YourBusinessName(or unique name you picked).myshopify.com.
For example daisysdaises.myshopify.com
Your installed Thryv app will appear under the Apps tab in your Shopify account.
The Initial Sync
The initial sync will copy your existing customers and payments from Shopify to Thryv.
Once the app install is complete, your customer list and payments in Shopify will begin to sync to Thryv. This is a one-way sync from Shopify to Thryv. (The clients and payments in Thryv will not sync to Shopify.) Your entire customer list will sync. Only the previous 60 days of payments will sync.
The amount of time to sync your customer list and payments from Shopify to Thryv is dependent on the amount of information that has to be synced. So extensive customer lists will require more time to sync.
You will receive a notification to your Thryv once the sync has completed successfully.
The Ongoing Sync
This integration creates an ongoing sync of your new customers and new payments from Shopify to Thryv.
New customers added to Shopify will also be created in Thryv.
- The client's first name, last name, email, phone number, and address will sync to the Thryv client card. (Other Shopify fields such as company, notes, and tags do not sync.)
- The client will be added to the client list within minutes of creation. No notification will be sent about the new client creation.
- Clients created by the Shopify integration will be notated as such under the Info tab > Additional Information > Originated from field: Shopify_integration.
New payments in Shopify will also be recorded in Thryv.
- When a purchase is paid in full from your Shopify store:
- You will receive a notification to your Thryv inbox
- The payment will also be recorded in the payments tab of that client's card in Thryv.
*NOTE: Partial payments will not sync to Thryv. Once an order is paid in full it will record in Thryv.
- If a payment is recorded in Shopify is not associated to a customer, the sync will create a client named, Shopify Customer for Order #. See the example below.
If the client already exists in Thryv, the sync will only update the client card with the payment.
*NOTE: The unique contact identifier in Thryv is the client's email. So if a client enters a different email when they check out through your Shopify Store, a new contact will be created in Thryv. If that happens, it is recommended to merge those client contacts. To learn more about merging client contacts, click here.
How to incorporate my Shopify online store with a Thryv website
Your Shopify products can be added to your Thryv website by using buy buttons and product collection codes generated from your Shopify account. How to Uninstall
We understand that not all apps work for everyone's needs. If that is the case with this app for your business, then the uninstall is quick and easy. The app can only be uninstalled from within your Shopify account.
Click on Apps within the left hand side menu within the account
From here, click on App and sales channel settings
In the window that appears, your Shopify apps will be listed. Hover over the tri-dots next to the Thryv app and the uninstall button will appear.
A confirmation screen will appear. If you are sure you wish to uninstall the app, click on Uninstall
A success screen will appear indicating that the app has been uninstalled succesfully. If you decide to try out the integration again at a later time, just follow the install process again.
Do I need to have a Shopify account to sync Shopify with Thryv?
Yes. A paid Shopify account is required, which must be created directly through Shopify.
Will my customer list and payments be transferred or synced from Thryv to Shopify?
The integration will only sync customers and payments from Shopify to Thryv. It will not transfer or sync customers or payments from Thryv to Shopify.
Can I transfer all clients and payments from Shopify to Thryv?
The initial sync will sync ALL contacts in Shopify with an email or phone number associated with the contact over to Thryv. Only the past 60 days of payments will be synced.
How can I add my Shopify products to my Thryv website?
Shopify products can be added to your Thryv website using product collection codes generated from your Shopify account. You can schedule an appointment with a Thryv Service Specialist to assist you with connecting your Shopify products to your Thryv website.
Can I cancel my Shopify app subscription with Thryv at any time?
You can uninstall and cancel the integration subscription at any time by signing into your Shopify account and deleting the app.
