Keeping your email marketing contacts in sync with your CRM saves time and ensures your Mailchimp audiences always reflect your most current client data. The Mailchimp integration with Thryv Business Center lets you sync contacts between your Mailchimp audience and your CRM on a one-time basis or on an ongoing schedule. What Data Syncs Between Mailchimp and Thryv Business Center
The Mailchimp integration syncs contact data between your Mailchimp audience and your CRM in Thryv Business Center. The integration supports a one-time sync in either direction as well as an ongoing sync so your contact lists stay current automatically.
How to Install the Mailchimp Integration
To install the Mailchimp integration, click App Market in the left-hand navigation. Find the Mailchimp app in the app list and click the app tile to open the app detail page. Click Use This App to begin the installation.
A permissions window will appear. Check the box to Agree to the Terms and Conditions, then click Connect to Mailchimp to proceed.
A pop-up window will appear with the Mailchimp login screen. Enter your Mailchimp credentials to sign in. Make sure pop-ups are allowed for this site in your browser. If you do not have a Mailchimp account, click Create An Account in the pop-up to create a new Mailchimp account. Clicking Create An Account will take you to the Mailchimp account creation page.
On the next screen, click Allow to authorize Thryv Business Center to access your Mailchimp account via Integry. Integry is the third-party service that powers the Mailchimp integration.
After authorizing the connection, you will be taken to the integration screen where you can set up your syncs.
What Sync Options Are Available in the Mailchimp Integration
The Mailchimp integration offers three sync options. If you want to complete a full two-way sync of both current and future contacts, you will need to set up all three options. Note that the ongoing sync is only available for one Mailchimp audience at a time.
- Ongoing sync of contacts between Thryv Business Center and Mailchimp - This option keeps contacts in sync on a continuing basis going forward. The ongoing sync does not include contacts that already exist in either platform at the time of setup. The ongoing sync will only include new or changed contacts going forward. To sync existing contacts as well, complete all three sync options.
- One-time sync of contacts from Thryv Business Center to Mailchimp - This option exports your current contacts from your CRM to Mailchimp one time. If you have multiple Mailchimp audiences you want to sync to, the sync must be set up separately for each audience.
- One-time sync of contacts from Mailchimp to Thryv Business Center - This option imports your current Mailchimp contacts into your CRM one time. This sync must also be set up separately for each individual Mailchimp audience you want to sync.
How to Set Up and Enable a Mailchimp Sync
The setup process is identical for all three sync options. To begin, click Setup and Enable for an ongoing sync, or click Setup and Run for a one-time sync on the integration screen.
On the next screen, use the dropdown to select the Mailchimp audience you want to sync. Note that each sync can only be set up for one audience at a time. If you want to sync multiple audiences, complete the setup process separately for each audience.
Next, map the fields for the sync. Your Mailchimp fields will appear on the screen. Type the name of the corresponding Thryv Business Center field next to each Mailchimp field to map the information correctly. When you have mapped all the fields you want to sync, click Next.
A success screen will appear confirming the setup is complete. Click Save to initiate the sync.
You will be taken back to the main integration screen where the sync will show a status of Completed. Use the toggle to turn the sync on or off at any time. To edit the sync settings, click the three-dot menu icon next to the sync.
What Happens When Contacts Are Synced to Mailchimp
When contacts are moved from Thryv Business Center to Mailchimp, each contact will automatically receive an email from Mailchimp asking them to confirm their opt-in for marketing messages. This is a standard Mailchimp requirement for adding contacts to an audience. Contacts must confirm their opt-in to receive marketing emails from your Mailchimp campaigns.
How to Uninstall the Mailchimp Integration
To uninstall the Mailchimp integration, return to the Mailchimp app in the App Market and navigate to the Configure screen. Click Uninstall in the top-right corner. A confirmation prompt will appear asking you to confirm the uninstall. Click Uninstall again to confirm and remove the integration.
Frequently Asked Questions
I just received my confirmation email after configuring the integration. Why are my contacts not synced yet?
The confirmation email only confirms that the sync has been initiated. Depending on the amount of data being transferred, the sync may take additional time to complete after the confirmation email is sent.
Do my contacts sync immediately after setup?
No. The sync runs once per day and includes all contacts added or changed in the previous 24-hour period.
Is there a limit to the number of contacts I can sync?
No. All contacts in the selected Mailchimp audience will sync. There is no contact limit for the Mailchimp integration.
Will syncing with Mailchimp create duplicate contacts in Thryv Business Center?
No. Email address is the unique identifier for contacts in Thryv Business Center. If a contact in Mailchimp has the same email address as an existing contact in your CRM, the integration will update the existing contact record rather than create a duplicate. If a contact in Mailchimp has a different email address from any existing contact, the integration will create a new contact record. Does the ongoing sync include contacts that already exist in both platforms?
No. The ongoing sync only applies to new or changed contacts going forward from the date the sync is enabled. To sync contacts that already exist in both platforms, complete the one-time sync from Thryv Business Center to Mailchimp and the one-time sync from Mailchimp to Thryv Business Center in addition to the ongoing sync.
