Why Entrance Animations Help Your Website Stand Out
A website that guides visitors toward a specific action — calling your business, booking an appointment, or clicking a payment link — converts better than one that presents everything at equal visual weight. Entrance animations in the Thryv Website Builder let you apply subtle motion effects to any widget or row as it appears on the screen, creating a more dynamic and engaging experience for visitors. Use entrance animations to draw the visitor's eye to your most important elements such as a phone number, a booking button, or a key testimonial. Applying a fade-in or slide effect to high-value content ensures it is noticed rather than overlooked. Entrance animations also make your website feel more modern and professional, which improves brand recall and encourages visitors to return.
How to Add an Entrance Animation to a Widget or Row
To add an entrance animation, right-click the widget or row to open the context menu. Hover over Entrance Animation in the context menu and select the animation style you want to apply. The animation will play each time the widget or row scrolls into view for a visitor.
The screenshot above shows the context menu in the Thryv Website Builder with the Entrance Animation option highlighted. The submenu displays the available animation styles. Hovering over Entrance Animation opens the submenu and selecting any style applies the animation to the selected widget or row. Entrance animations can be applied to both individual widgets and entire rows.
How to Remove an Entrance Animation From a Widget or Row
To remove an entrance animation, right-click the widget or row to open the context menu. Hover over Entrance Animation in the context menu and select None. The animation will be removed from the selected widget or row. If an animation appears to be applied to an element but cannot be found on the expected widget, check whether the animation was applied to the row containing the widget rather than the widget itself — animations can be applied to rows as well as individual widgets.
The screenshot above shows the Entrance Animation submenu in the Thryv Website Builder context menu with the None option visible. Selecting None removes the entrance animation from the selected widget or row. The None option is the first item in the Entrance Animation submenu.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this article cover?
This article covers how to add and remove entrance animations on widgets and rows in the Thryv Website Builder, and important considerations for using animations effectively. This article does not cover editing other widget design options. For help with widget design settings, see how to edit widget design in the Thryv Website Builder.
How many entrance animations should I add to a page?
Use entrance animations sparingly. Applying too many animations to a single page can disorient visitors and reduce the impact of each individual animation. Entrance animations are most effective when used selectively on high-value elements such as call-to-action buttons, phone numbers, or key testimonials.
Can entrance animations be applied to rows as well as individual widgets?
Yes. Entrance animations can be applied to both individual widgets and entire rows. When removing an animation that appears to be applied to a widget, check whether the animation was applied to the row containing the widget instead — right-click the row and check the Entrance Animation submenu to confirm.
How do I preview an entrance animation before publishing?
To preview an entrance animation, save the page in the Thryv Website Builder and open a browser preview of the page. Entrance animations play each time the animated element scrolls into view — the animation is not visible in the Website Builder editor view itself.
