Why the Audio Widget Lets You Add Audio to Your Website Without Slowing It Down
Audio content — such as client testimonials, sales messages, tutorials, or original music — gives website visitors a way to engage with your business beyond reading text. The Audio Widget in the Thryv Website Builder lets you embed audio files from SoundCloud or Mixcloud directly onto any page. Because the audio is hosted by SoundCloud or Mixcloud rather than your website, the audio player streams without adding load time to your pages. Adding audio to your website requires only the URL of the public audio file — no code is needed. Design options for the audio player are available for both platforms, allowing the player to match the visual style of the rest of the page.
The screenshot above shows an example of the Audio Widget embedded on a website page in the Thryv Website Builder. The audio player appears as an inline element on the page. The appearance of the player differs depending on whether a SoundCloud or Mixcloud URL is used.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this article cover?
This article covers how to add and configure the Audio Widget in the Thryv Website Builder, including how to connect a SoundCloud or Mixcloud audio file and the design options available for each platform. This article does not cover how to upload or manage audio files on SoundCloud or Mixcloud. For help with SoundCloud, visit the SoundCloud help center. For help with Mixcloud, visit the Mixcloud help center.
Which audio platforms does the Audio Widget support?
The Audio Widget in the Thryv Website Builder supports audio files hosted on SoundCloud and Mixcloud. Audio files must be publicly available on one of these two platforms before they can be embedded using the Audio Widget. Audio files hosted on other platforms or uploaded directly to the website are not supported by the Audio Widget.
How do I keep the audio player design consistent across multiple Audio Widgets on the same page?
The design options available for the audio player differ between SoundCloud and Mixcloud. SoundCloud and Mixcloud players do not share the same layout or color scheme options. To keep the audio player design consistent across all Audio Widgets on a website, use audio files from the same platform — either all SoundCloud or all Mixcloud — across every Audio Widget on the site.
Does the audio file need to be publicly available on SoundCloud or Mixcloud?
Yes. The Audio Widget embeds the audio player by referencing the public URL of the audio file on SoundCloud or Mixcloud. If the audio file is set to private on SoundCloud or Mixcloud, the audio player will not load correctly on the website. Make sure the audio file is set to public on the hosting platform before copying the URL and adding it to the Audio Widget.
