This article covers connecting an existing Stripe account to Thryv Business Center. This article does not cover creating a new Stripe account. To create a Stripe account, visit stripe.com and complete Stripe's account registration process before returning to connect your account to Thryv Business Center. This article does not cover ThryvPay or Braintree as payment gateway options.
Before You Connect: When to Use Stripe
Connect Stripe to Thryv Business Center if you already have an active Stripe account and have not yet connected another payment gateway to your Thryv Business Center account. Stripe is one of several payment gateway options available in Thryv Business Center, the others are ThryvPay and Braintree. If you have already connected a Braintree account to Thryv Business Center, you do not need to disconnect Braintree to add Stripe.
How to Navigate to Payments Settings
The Stripe connection is configured in the Payments section of Thryv Business Center Settings. Click Settings in the left-hand navigation of Thryv Business Center. On the Settings page, click Payments. The Payments settings page will open and display your available payment gateway options.
How to Select Stripe and Start the Connection
On the Payments settings page, locate the payment gateway selection area. Click the radio button next to Stripe to select Stripe as your payment gateway. After selecting the Stripe radio button, click Connect to begin the Stripe connection flow. The Stripe authorization window will open.
How to Sign In to Your Existing Stripe Account
After clicking Connect, the Stripe authorization window opens. If you already have a Stripe account, click the Sign in link in the top-right corner of the Stripe authorization window. Clicking Sign in redirects the window to the Stripe login screen where you can enter your Stripe account email address and password. Do not fill in the new account creation fields if you have an existing Stripe account, use the Sign in link to authenticate with your existing credentials.
How to Authorize the Connection Between Stripe and Thryv Business Center
After signing in to your Stripe account, Stripe will display a permissions screen listing the access Thryv Business Center is requesting. Review the listed permissions, then click Authorize access to this account to grant Thryv Business Center permission to connect with your Stripe account and process payments on your behalf. Clicking Authorize access to this account completes the authorization step and returns you to the Payments settings page in Thryv Business Center.
How to Confirm Your Stripe Account Is Connected
After completing the authorization flow, you will be returned to the Payments settings page in Thryv Business Center. Your Stripe account is successfully connected when the Stripe section on the Payments settings page displays a Disconnect button in place of the Connect button. The presence of the Disconnect button confirms that Thryv Business Center is actively connected to your Stripe account and can process payments. If the Disconnect button does not appear, return to the Stripe selection step and repeat the connection process.
How to Get Support for Stripe Connection Issues
If you experience issues connecting your Stripe account to Thryv Business Center, contact Thryv Support first. Click the orange support banner in the bottom-left corner of any page in Thryv Business Center. In the support menu, click Support Center, then click Contact Us. Thryv Support is available by chat, phone and email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If your issue is specific to your Stripe account rather than the Thryv connection, you can also contact Stripe Support directly. Stripe does not provide an inbound phone support number, but Stripe Support offers a callback option where you can leave your phone number and receive a return call. You do not need to disconnect Braintree before connecting Stripe. Both gateways can be connected to your Thryv Business Center account.

When Stripe is connected to Thryv Business Center, your clients can pay using credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payment method availability may vary depending on your Stripe account configuration and your client's device.
What should I do if the Disconnect button does not appear after completing the authorization?
If the Disconnect button does not appear on the Payments settings page after completing the Stripe authorization flow, the connection may not have completed successfully. Return to Settings in the left-hand navigation, click Payments and repeat the connection steps beginning with selecting the Stripe radio button and clicking Connect. If the issue persists, contact Thryv Support by clicking the orange support banner in the bottom-left corner of any Thryv Business Center page and selecting Contact Us.
Does connecting Stripe replace my existing ThryvPay connection?
Connecting Stripe does not automatically replace your existing ThryvPay connection. You can have ThryvPay and Stripe connected, then toggle between them when accepting payments. Only one payment processor can be active at a time and once you connect Stripe it becomes your default unless you choose a different default in payment settings.
One note: our recommendation is to connect Stripe only if you already have a Stripe account and you have not connected any other payment gateway yet, but it’s still possible to connect Stripe even if you already have another gateway connected.
