Why Collect Payment at the Time of Booking
Requiring or suggesting payment at the time of booking protects your business from no-shows and last-minute cancellations. When clients pay upfront, they are more committed to keeping their appointment which means fewer gaps in your schedule and more predictable revenue. Thryv Business Center™ lets you collect online payments directly through your booking page, so your clients can pay by credit card at the moment they schedule. Payments are transferred immediately to your connected payment processor account, so you never have to chase down a payment after the appointment is completed.
Supported Payment Processors
To collect upfront payments through your booking page, your Thryv Business Center account must be connected to one of the following payment processors:
- Braintree
- Stripe
- Square
- ThryvPay™
Once your payment processor is connected, payments made by your clients at the time of booking are transferred immediately to your Braintree, Stripe, Square, or ThryvPay™ account. To connect or configure your payment processor, click Settings in the left-hand navigation, then click Payments.
How to Set Up Upfront Payment for a Service or Appointment
Follow these steps to require or suggest payment at the time of booking for a specific service in Thryv Business Center.
- Navigate to My Services
Click Settings in the left-hand navigation. Then click My Services. The My Services page displays all services currently available for booking on your booking page.
- Open the service you want to edit
Locate the service you want to update. Click Edit next to an existing service to modify it, or click Add Service to create a new service with upfront payment enabled.
- Edit the Fee section
Inside the service editor, locate the Fee section. Click the Fee display dropdown to select your preferred upfront payment option. Two options are available:
- Suggest to pay at booking, Thryv Business Center will prompt your client to pay online at the time of booking, but payment is not required to confirm the appointment. Your client can choose to pay online at booking or pay by cash or check at your office. You will receive a notification about the booking request and can choose to accept it even if the client did not complete payment while scheduling. This option is recommended for businesses that want to capture all leads while still encouraging upfront payment.
- Require to pay at the time of booking, your client must complete payment online before the appointment time is confirmed. If the client does not complete payment at the time of booking, the appointment will not be scheduled.
- Save your changes
Click Save to apply the upfront payment setting to the service. The updated payment requirement will take effect immediately on your booking page for that service.
