Eligibility Requirements
In order to use Request a Quote with Yelp, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must have an active, claimed Yelp profile. If you have not already done so, click here for Yelp's guide.
- This Yelp profile must belong to an eligible category on Yelp. There are approximately 600 approved categories in Yelp. To check if your category is approved, you can ask the AI chat tool in your Thryv Marketing Center software or on our support site.
How to Set Up
If you meet the eligibility requirements, a banner will display at the top of your Thryv Marketing Center dashboard. To dismiss this banner click on the X icon in the top right corner. Each stage of the process can take 24-48 hours for Yelp to process, so it's important to get started early in order receive more leads from Yelp!
To begin the installation, the first step is to Claim Your Yelp profile if you have not already done so. Click Here for Yelp's guide.
Keep in mind, this process can take 24-48 hours. You will only see the button to activate Request a Quote after it is complete.
Once your Yelp profile is claimed, you will need to Enable Yelp Messages. This button will take you to your Yelp profile to turn messaging on there. Once enabled, the banner will say "Pending," and eventually say "Complete" when it is confirmed that messages are enabled. It may take 24-48 hours for Thryv Marketing Center to confirm that Yelp Messages are enabled. (Note that if you have not yet claimed your Yelp Profile, this banner will instead direct you to claim your profile, and will then display as shown below once it is claimed.)
Once this is complete, your Yelp profile will be open for leads to send messages, and more importantly, request quotes. By connecting it through Thryv Marketing Center, these leads will appear right here along with your other marketing efforts, so they appear in the same analytics and eliminating the need to constantly switch platforms.
A pop-up will appear with instructions to enable Request a Quote in Yelp. Click on Go to Inbox to be taken to the screen in Yelp to enable.
Steps to complete in Yelp
In your Yelp inbox, complete the following steps:
- Click the gear icon in the upper left corner
- Check "Allow people to message your business"
- Click Save
When these steps are complete, return to Thryv Marketing Center.
Once Yelp messaging is enabled, you are ready to finish your setup by connecting your Yelp account to Thryv Marketing Center. Click on Connect Account to set up the connection.
In the pop-up that appears, check the box authorizing Thryv to provision the Request a Quote feature on your Yelp profile, and agree to the terms and conditions. Once this box is checked, click on Accept and Connect. If you are not already signed in to Yelp, you will be prompted to do so.
Your setup is complete! From here, you are able to navigate to the Analytics tab in Thryv Marketing Center to see metrics on your Yelp leads, or your inbox in My Leads to see their incoming messages.
Keep in mind this process can also take 24-48 hours, you will not be able to receive quote requests from leads until it is complete.
Note: If you have already dismissed the banner, you are still able to enable Request a Quote from the Listings Management tab. To enable this way, click on Listings Management in the left-hand navigation, then click on Manage My Listings. On this page, scroll down to the Yelp section, and click on the action button there to start or continue the process.
How Yelp Request a Quote Appears on your Yelp Profile
When your business appears in a Yelp search, a special action button will appear on your tile in the search results, inviting the searcher to Get Pricing & Availability.
In addition, on your profile itself, the option to request a quote will appear on the right hand side. The lead will select a service type if applicable and then fill out the detailed form.
How Leads Appear from Yelp Request a Quote
View Your Request A Quote Leads Analytics in Thryv Marketing Center
To view your Quote Requests from Yelp, first click on Analytics in the left-hand navigation.
Then, click on the Quote Requests tab.
All quote requests received will appear in the section Yelp Quote Requests. Each row will display:
- Name
- Service type (defined in Yelp Request a Quote form)
- Zip code
- Submission date
To view the full information about a quote request, click on View Details. A pane will pop out from the right-hand side with more information. The request overview will contain the details submitted, message from the lead, and responses to the survey from Yelp, qualifying this lead.
Below your list of leads, a chart will appear measuring the volume of leads received through Yelp Request A Quote. Use the date drop-down in the top right corner to adjust the date range. These leads will also be counted in the total lead metric on your Thryv Marketing Center dashboard.
View Your Request A Quote Messages in My Leads
When Yelp Request A Quote is fully connected, a confirmation message will appear in your My Leads inbox. This also contains some important information for reference:
- Quotes remain valid for 7 days. If 7 days pass, we'll send an automated message on your behalf, but it's best to respond to quotes right away.
- The phone number and email address provided with your quote are temporary. If you wish to fully capture the contact information for this lead, update it with this information from the lead before it expires.
- All information provided by the lead via request a quote is available in the contact side panel in My Leads
When viewing your Request A Quote analytics in Thryv Marketing Center, you will need to navigate to My Leads to respond to the lead. Click on Reply in My Leads to be taken to the conversation for this lead in My Leads. This conversation is automatically created when the lead is received.
When the conversation is created, a reply will automatically be sent to the lead. The faster a business responds to their leads, the more likely Yelp is to continue to pass leads to that business, in order to ensure that Yelp's visitors have a postive experience.
From here, you are able to continue to follow up with your lead. Note that Yelp will be selected as the channel for this conversation. Once the lead expires, you will no longer be able to contact this person again, as the email address and phone number provided through Yelp are temporary. If you wish to save this person as a future contact, you'll need to obtain their true contact information.
Automated Response
When a lead is received from Yelp, Thryv will send an automated response to the lead. This step is crucial, as Yelp requires that leads be responded to within a certain time frame. If a response is not sent, Yelp will pass the opportunity to the next business, and we certainly don't want that happening! The automated response ensures that you automatically remain in compliance with Yelp's policies and protects your leads. In order to make sure the response is timely and complies with Yelp's conditions, the response can not be edited.
How to Disconnect Yelp Request a Quote From Thryv Marketing Center
Note: This process will not disable Yelp Request a Quote altogether on Yelp. It will simply disconnect it from Thryv Marketing Center.
1. Navigate to Listings Management
2. Scroll down to your Yelp Enhanced Profile, and set the toggle for Yelp Request a Quote to Off
3. Click on Disconnect in the pop-up window to confirm.
FAQ
How do I customize my automated response to incoming leads from Yelp?
Yelp does not currently allow the ability to customize the automated response.
I'm trying to respond to a lead, but the message isn't going through anymore. What's going on?
Leads from Yelp expire after 7 days. In order to continue communication with this lead or customer, make sure you capture their true contact information. The initial email address and phone number passed on by Yelp are temporary.
Is there an additional charge for Yelp Request a Quote?
No, Yelp offers this service at no additional cost.
