Pinterest is a unique social platform, as it functions like a visual search engine where people go to discover new ideas, products, and inspiration. When properly harnessed it can also be a powerful tool for small business owners and a great addition to your online presence. As a highly visual platform, adding (or "pinning") images of your work on Pinterest can create a visual story that drives traffic to your website. In addition to users of the platform itself, Pins are also indexed by Google, increasing your overall online visibility. When used in conjunction with Thryv, Pinterest behaves differently than other social platforms in some important ways, which we'll describe in this article.

Default Boards
Once Pinterest is connected, there are some important steps to take to ensure the best performance. While most social platforms rely on a "default account" set in Thryv, Pinterest uses "default boards" instead. Default boards are the boards your content will post to when posted from your content library. When you first connect your Pinterest account, the board that was most recently posted to or edited will automatically be made the default board. To view the currently selected boards for a piece of content, hover over the Pinterest icon for that content.
To edit which boards this content is posting to, click on # board(s) selected and choose the desired boards in the pop-up window.
To edit your default boards, navigate to your Social Settings (gear icon)>Linked Accounts
Scroll down to Pinterest in your connected accounts and click on # boards linked: # default to view your connected boards.
In the window that appears, all of your connected boards will display, with the boxes checked for boards that are marked default. Use the checkboxes to select and unselect default boards. If you have created new boards since connecting Pinterest to Thryv and you don't see them here, you may need to click on Sync Account to display them. When finished, click on Mark # as Default to confirm your default board(s). From now on posts will go to these boards by default.
Why isn't my Pinterest content pulling in to my automated post queue?
Testing If you select a Pinterest account when autofilling queues, the boards that are selected in the autofill settings need to all be selected on a piece of content for it to be pulled in to the queue. If there is a mismatch between the selected boards for the queue and the selected boards for the content, the content will not be added to the queue.
Differences between Pinterest and other connected platforms
A key difference between Pinterest and your other connected platforms is that the Title of your content will post to Pinterest. For most platforms, the name is internal only to sort your content, however keep in mind that when posting to Pinterest the name will be displayed.
Also, if you post to more than one board for the same account at the same time, Thryv will re-pin the post from one board to the others, rather than duplicate it. This way, you'll see an aggregate engagement metric for the post. Comments for one pin will appear on the other and vice-versa, making it easier to manage.
