Each social media platform only allows a user or 3rd party software (like Thryv Marketing Center™) to stay logged in for a certain amount of time. They have this limitation in place for security reasons for their sites. What this means for you is, every so often you will have to re-authenticate the login for your connected social platforms. If not, it could interrupt posting for your scheduled content.
Here is the schedule that social sites use for expiring logins:
- Meta (Includes Facebook and Instagram) - 60 days
- X (formerly Twitter) - Does not have a set schedule, login tokens will remain active until you revoke access or the application invalidates the token.
- Google Business Profile - normally 1 hour, however Thryv Business Center keeps a refresh token until you take an action that requires the token to be revoked by Google (see list below).
- YouTube - normally 1 hour, however Thryv Business Center keeps a refresh token until you take an action that requires the token to be revoked by Google (see list below).
- LinkedIn - 60 days for personal pages, 1 year for business pages
- TikTok - 60 days
- Pinterest - 60 days
Each site individually has control of their login tokens and they can be expired for several reasons, including:
- Inactive Accounts: If one or both users become inactive or stop using the social network, their connections may weaken over time. Social networks often clean up inactive accounts to maintain database efficiency, which can result in lost connections.
- Privacy Settings: Users may change their privacy settings, restricting who can view or interact with their profile. This can result in connections being severed if one user limits their visibility or accessibility on the platform.
- Algorithmic Changes: Social networks frequently update their algorithms and policies, affecting how connections are displayed or maintained. Algorithm changes may prioritize certain connections over others, leading to decreased visibility or interaction between users.
- User Actions: Users may intentionally unfollow, unfriend, or block each other, leading to the loss of connectivity. This could be due to personal conflicts, interest changes, or simply a desire to reduce clutter in their social network feeds.
- Technical Issues: Technical glitches, server outages, or software bugs can disrupt connectivity between users on a social network. These issues may result in temporary or permanent loss of connection until the platform's technical team resolves them.
- Account Deletion: If a user decides to delete their account or is banned from the platform, all connections associated with that account will be lost. This can happen due to various reasons such as violations of community guidelines, illegal activities, or personal decisions to disengage from the platform.
- Platform Changes: Changes in the platform's terms of service, user interface, or features may impact how connections are maintained. Users may find it challenging to adapt to these changes, leading to decreased engagement and connectivity with their social network connections.
- Changes in API Versions: Social networks regularly update their APIs to introduce new features, improve performance, or address security concerns. When a new version of an API is released, the older versions may eventually be deprecated. Developers are encouraged to migrate to the latest version to ensure continued compatibility and access to the platform's features.
- Policy Violations: If an application violates the social network's terms of service or API usage policies, access to the API may be restricted or revoked entirely. This could happen if the application engages in spamming, data scraping, or other activities deemed inappropriate by the platform.
- Changes in Authentication: Social networks may update their authentication mechanisms, requiring users to modify their applications to accommodate these changes. Failure to update authentication methods could result in loss of access to the API.
When your login is expired
You will receive a notification in your Inbox when your login is expired. When this happens, navigate to Social>Settings (Gear icon)>Linked Accounts
The disconnected account will have a ! icon and the Refresh Credentials button will appear. Click on it to refresh your login to that social platform. If you have multiple social platforms connected, note that they need to be refreshed individually and require refresh on separate schedules.

No, unfortunately this is not permitted by social platforms
If my login expires and I have posts scheduled, will they still post?
No, any scheduled posts, even if they are Thryv-generated, will not post when the login is expired.
If posts are missed because of an expired login, will they be made up?
Not automatically, but you are able to click on each post individually and reschedule it for a different day of your choosing.
