Add a customer-facing note to an invoice in Thryv Business Center™ to explain payment instructions, service details, or other information your customer needs. Clear invoice notes help customers understand the charges and what to do next.
This article covers creating a new invoice with a note before sending. The instructions do not cover changing an already-sent invoice, creating a credit note, or issuing a refund. For the complete workflow, learn how to create and send an invoice.

6. Review and Send
Review the invoice and note, then click Send.

Australian and New Zealand accounts: Sent invoices are locked and cannot be edited directly. Review the invoice and note before sending. Draft invoices remain editable; use credit notes to record adjustments to sent invoices.
Limitations and Frequently Asked Questions
Where Will My Customer See the Note?
The customer-facing note appears in the email containing the invoice and on the downloaded invoice PDF.
Does Adding a Note Change the Invoice Amount?
No. The note field adds a message without changing charges, discounts, taxes, or the amount owed.
Is an Invoice Note the Same as a Credit Note?
No. An invoice note adds a customer-facing message before sending an invoice. A credit note records an adjustment to an issued invoice.
Australian and New Zealand accounts use credit notes to adjust sent invoices because sent invoices are locked. The generated credit-note PDFs include the required information for Australia and New Zealand.
Does a Credit Note Issue a Refund?
No. Creating a credit note records an invoice adjustment but does not return money through your payment processor. Handle refunds separately through the applicable payment workflow.
Can I Follow These Steps to Change an Already-Sent Invoice?
These steps create a new invoice with a note. They do not describe editing an already-sent invoice.
For regional editing restrictions and other invoice instructions, review Create and Send an Invoice.
