This article covers connecting the integration, how leads sync to QuickBooks Online, and what data is shared. It does not cover working leads inside Thryv or managing invoices, estimates, or payments in QuickBooks Online — those workflows stay exactly as they are today.
QuickBooks Online isn't where you work your leads. It's where you invoice, estimate, and get paid. This integration is a shortcut that saves you the step of re-entering someone's information when a Thryv lead turns into a paying customer. Instead of typing in their name, email, and phone number by hand when you're ready to send an invoice, the Customer record is already sitting in QuickBooks Online, waiting for you.
When a prospect calls, fills out a form, or reaches out through your listings, Thryv captures and qualifies the lead and sends it straight to QuickBooks Online with call notes, form details, and lead quality signals already attached. You keep working leads the way you do today. This integration just means the paperwork side is one step shorter by the time you're ready to bill them.
Benefits of Sending Leads to QuickBooks Online
No more re-typing customer info when it's time to invoice. Thryv captures and qualifies every incoming lead — calls, form submissions, and listing inquiries — and sends each one to QuickBooks Online as a Customer automatically. By the time you're ready to create an estimate or send an invoice, the Customer is already there.
Every Customer arrives with full detail already attached: name, email, phone, and a note with the call conversation summary or form submission details, so you (or whoever handles billing) have context on where the customer came from without switching back to Thryv to look it up. Thryv Score and Thryv Sentiment are written directly to the Customer record as custom fields too, in case that score and sentiment data is useful down the line.
If a Customer already exists in QuickBooks Online, the integration updates that record instead of creating a duplicate, matching first on an internal record ID, then email address, then phone number. This matching order means no messy duplicate Customers to clean up later, whether the lead came from a first-time call or someone you've already invoiced before.
Your QuickBooks Online workflow stays exactly the same. This integration doesn't add a step to how you invoice, track payments, or manage your books. It just means the Customer is already set up by the time you get there.
How to Connect Thryv to QuickBooks Online
Before You Begin
To connect Thryv to QuickBooks Online, you need:
An active Thryv account with Marketing Center.
A QuickBooks Online account you have admin access to.
Connect Your Accounts
To get started, select QuickBooks Online from the Integrations Directory in Thryv.
Review the permissions Thryv is requesting, then continue to sign in with your QuickBooks Online credentials and authorize the connection.
How Leads Sync to QuickBooks Online
Leads Are Automatically Synced
Once connected, Thryv monitors incoming leads and checks each one's score against the filtering rule before sending anything to QuickBooks Online.
Customers Are Created or Updated
For each qualifying lead, the integration checks whether a matching Customer already exists in QuickBooks Online — first by internal record ID, then by email address, then by phone number. If the integration finds a match, it updates that Customer. If it finds no match, it creates a new Customer.
Notes and Context Are Attached
Call activity and form submission details are added to the Customer's Notes. Since QuickBooks Online's Notes field holds one block of text rather than a running list, Thryv reads the existing note content first and combines it with the new details, so nothing you've already saved is lost.
The Customer Is Ready When You Need It
When you're ready to send an estimate, create an invoice, or record a payment for that customer, the Customer record — along with their contact info and context — is already in QuickBooks Online. There's no need to pull up Thryv to copy details over first.
Qualifying leads reach QuickBooks Online in near real time, so the Customer record is ready well before you need it — whether that's the same day or weeks down the line.
Which Leads Are Sent to QuickBooks Online
Not every lead is sent to QuickBooks Online. The connection filters leads by score so your Customer list reflects strong prospects instead of noise. By default:
Thryv sends leads scored 3 or higher to QuickBooks Online. These are your qualified, high-intent prospects.
Thryv also sends unscored leads to QuickBooks Online. A lead that has not yet received a score is still passed through so it is not lost.
Thryv holds back leads scored 1 or 2. Low-scored leads are not sent to QuickBooks Online, keeping low-quality prospects out of your customer list.
What Data Is Shared
When a lead is synced, the following information is sent to QuickBooks Online:
Name (first and last)
Email address
Phone number
Thryv Score (written to the Thryv_Score custom field)
Thryv Sentiment (written to the Thryv_Sentiment custom field)
Call conversation summary and key notes (added to the Customer's Notes)
Form submission details (added to the Customer's Notes, when applicable)
Managing Your Integration
Checking Your Connection Status
You can check whether QuickBooks Online is connected from the Integrations Directory at any time.
Disconnecting the Integration
You can uninstall the integration at any time. Disconnecting will:
Stop new leads from syncing to QuickBooks Online
Revoke Thryv's access to your QuickBooks Online account
Existing Customer records, notes, and the Thryv_Score/Thryv_Sentiment custom fields are not affected when you disconnect — disconnecting removes the connection, not your data.
When to Use This Integration
This integration is a good fit if:
You already use QuickBooks Online for invoicing, estimates, and bookkeeping — not as a place to track or work leads
You're tired of re-typing a customer's name, email, and phone number into QuickBooks Online after they've already given that info to Thryv
You want the Customer record and call/form context ready to go by the time you're ready to bill someone
You want lead quality signals (score and sentiment) on the Customer record too, even if you don't use them for billing, without extra setup beyond the one-time custom field creation
This integration isn't meant to turn QuickBooks Online into a lead management tool — you'll still work and follow up on leads the way you do today. Think of the integration as skipping a step of manual data entry on the accounting side.
FAQ
How are leads scored?
ThryvAI listens to calls received on your tracked phone numbers from your Thryv program. ThryvAI listens for "Intent Signals" during the call, such as asking for a quote, mentioning an emergency, or discussing a specific service. ThryvAI then weighs these signals to determine if the lead is high-priority (Hot) or just an inquiry (Warm), and assigns a numerical score to the lead based on the conversation. The scores range from 1 through 5. Use the lead score to prioritize your follow-ups so that you are investing your marketing time into the leads that are most likely to convert. Here is how the score is calculated:
5 - Client booked an appointment or made a purchase.
4 - Productive conversation about services, even if no sale or appointment was made. May include quotes or contact info exchange.
3 - Existing customer calling about past work, questions, or to reschedule. Or, minimal interest with no contact info shared.
2 - Wrong-fit leads (e.g., outside service area, competitor research) with no clear interest.
1 - Spam, sales calls, wrong numbers, unintelligible voicemails, or no clear customer intent.

Does the connection create duplicate Customers in QuickBooks Online?
No. The connection checks for an existing Customer first by internal record ID, then by email address, then by phone number. If it finds a match on any of those, it updates the existing Customer instead of creating a new one. It creates a new Customer only when it finds no match.
Will my existing Notes get overwritten?
No. Because QuickBooks Online's Notes field can only hold one block of text, Thryv reads what's already there before writing anything new, and combines the new note with your existing content rather than replacing it.
Will I lose my QuickBooks Online Customers if I disconnect?
No. Disconnecting stops new leads from syncing and revokes Thryv's access to your QuickBooks Online account, but Customer records, notes, and custom field data that already exist in QuickBooks Online are not affected. Disconnecting removes the connection, not your data.
Does this integration touch my invoices, estimates, or financial records?
No. This integration creates and updates Customer records (plus their custom fields and notes) only. Invoices, Estimates, Sales Receipts, Payments, Bills, and all other QuickBooks Online financial records are untouched and continue to be managed the way you do today.
