This article explains how to connect Thryv® to ActiveCampaign so leads sync automatically, and covers what data is shared, which leads qualify, and how to manage or disconnect the integration. It does not cover setting up ActiveCampaign automations or connecting other CRMs — see "What This Integration Does Not Cover" and the FAQ below for details.

Why Connect Thryv to ActiveCampaign
Every lead that comes into Thryv — a phone call, a form submission, or a listing inquiry — can flow directly into ActiveCampaign as a Contact, with call notes, form details, and lead quality signals already attached. Your team gets full context the moment a lead lands, so follow-ups happen faster and fewer leads slip through the cracks.
Connecting the two platforms removes manual work: no exporting lead lists, no copying contact details by hand, and no leads sitting in a queue waiting to be moved into your CRM. Thryv Score and Thryv Sentiment are applied to each Contact as tags, so your team can prioritize outreach by lead quality at a glance instead of digging through notes or guessing which leads are worth calling first.
Your ActiveCampaign workflow stays exactly the same. Leads simply show up as Contacts, and you continue building automations and sending campaigns the way you do today.
Requirements to Connect Thryv and ActiveCampaign
To connect Thryv to ActiveCampaign, you need:
- An active Thryv account with access to Thryv® Growth Platform™. This includes accounts on a free trial of Thryv Growth Platform — the integration is not restricted by subscription tier. [PENDING: confirm exact steps to check current subscription/Thryv Growth Platform access]
- An ActiveCampaign account and API key. Retrieve your API URL and API key from the Developer page under Settings in ActiveCampaign before starting setup. ActiveCampaign's instructions for finding your API URL and key walk through this in detail.
How to Connect Thryv to ActiveCampaign
Click ActiveCampaign in the Integrations Directory in Thryv.
Review the permissions Thryv is requesting, then paste your ActiveCampaign API key into the connection field when prompted. Thryv uses this key to authenticate and connect the two accounts.
Once Thryv validates the API key, the connection is complete and leads begin flowing from Thryv to ActiveCampaign automatically.
How Leads Flow from Thryv to ActiveCampaign
Once connected, Thryv sends qualifying leads to ActiveCampaign through the following process:
- Thryv checks each lead's score against the filtering rule. Only leads that meet the score threshold described in "Which Leads Are Sent to ActiveCampaign" are sent forward.
- Thryv checks for a matching Contact in ActiveCampaign. Thryv matches first by internal record ID, then by email address, then by phone number. If a match is found, Thryv updates that Contact. If no match is found, Thryv creates a new Contact.
- Thryv applies Thryv Score and Thryv Sentiment as Contact tags, so your team can see lead quality directly on the Contact record.
- Thryv attaches call notes and form details to the Contact as a new note. Notes are always added as new entries and never overwrite existing notes, so the Contact keeps a full communication history.
Qualifying leads reach ActiveCampaign in near real time, so your team can follow up while the prospect is still deciding.
Which Leads Are Sent to ActiveCampaign
Thryv filters leads by score before sending them to ActiveCampaign, so your team sees strong prospects instead of noise.
- Leads scored 3 or higher are sent to ActiveCampaign. These are qualified, high-intent prospects.
- Unscored leads are sent to ActiveCampaign. A lead that has not yet received a score is still sent so it is not lost.
- Leads scored 1 or 2 are held back. Thryv does not send these leads to ActiveCampaign, keeping low-quality prospects out of your team's workflow.
What Data Is Shared with ActiveCampaign
When a lead syncs, Thryv sends the following information to ActiveCampaign:
- Name (first and last)
- Email address
- Phone number
- Thryv Score (applied as a Contact tag)
- Thryv Sentiment (applied as a Contact tag)
- Call conversation summary and key notes (added as a Contact note)
- Form submission details (added as a Contact note, when applicable)
How to Manage or Disconnect the Integration
Check connection status. Open the Integrations Directory in Thryv to see whether ActiveCampaign is currently connected.
Disconnect the integration. You can disconnect ActiveCampaign at any time. Disconnecting will:
- Stop new leads from syncing to ActiveCampaign
- Remove Thryv's stored API key for your ActiveCampaign account
Contact records, tags, and notes that already exist in ActiveCampaign are not affected when you disconnect. Disconnecting removes the connection between the two platforms — it does not delete any data already in ActiveCampaign.
What This Integration Does Not Cover
- This integration does not change how Thryv calculates lead scores or lead sentiment.
- This integration does not create or modify ActiveCampaign automations. Existing automation triggers continue to work the same way. For example, an automation that starts when a new Contact record is created will still run for leads delivered by this integration.
- Leads scored 1 or 2 are not sent to ActiveCampaign. This is a fixed rule and cannot currently be adjusted.
FAQ
How does Thryv score a lead?
ThryvAI is Thryv's AI-powered call analysis feature. ThryvAI listens to calls received on your tracked phone numbers and identifies "Intent Signals" during the conversation, such as a caller asking for a quote, mentioning an emergency, or discussing a specific service. ThryvAI weighs these signals to determine whether a lead is high-priority ("Hot") or a general inquiry ("Warm") and assigns a numerical score from 1 through 5:
- 5 — The client booked an appointment or made a purchase.
- 4 — The conversation was productive and covered services, even without a sale or appointment. May include a quote or an exchange of contact information.
- 3 — An existing customer called about past work, asked a question, or requested a reschedule. Or, the caller showed minimal interest and shared no contact information.
- 2 — The caller was a wrong-fit lead (for example, outside the service area or a competitor doing research) with no clear interest.
- 1 — The call was spam, a sales call, a wrong number, an unintelligible voicemail, or showed no clear customer intent.
Use the lead score to prioritize follow-ups so your team spends time on the leads most likely to convert. Read how ThryvAI calculates lead scores and sentiment in detail for a full breakdown of Intent Signals.
Does connecting ActiveCampaign create duplicate Contacts?
No. Thryv checks for an existing Contact first by internal record ID, then by email address, then by phone number. If Thryv finds a match on any of those, it updates the existing Contact instead of creating a new one. Thryv creates a new Contact only when no match is found.
Will I lose my ActiveCampaign Contacts if I disconnect?
No. Disconnecting stops new leads from syncing and removes Thryv's stored API key, but Contact records, tags, and notes already in ActiveCampaign are not affected. Disconnecting removes the connection, not your data.
What Thryv subscription do I need to connect ActiveCampaign?
You need access to Thryv Growth Platform. This is not restricted by subscription tier — even a free trial of Thryv Growth Platform qualifies.
