This article explains what the Setup Guide is, why it matters, and how to move through its two screens — feature selection and My Checklist, including how to follow a task when it directs you to a different area of Business Center. This article does not cover the detailed configuration steps within each individual feature's checklist. Those steps are covered in each feature's dedicated article, linked below.
What Is the Setup Guide?
The Setup Guide is a personalized checklist that appears immediately after you complete your Business Center purchase. Instead of showing you every Business Center feature at once, the Setup Guide asks which capabilities matter most to your business, then builds a checklist around your answers. Each task in your checklist links to help articles and guides, and walks you through what to do next until every task is complete.
Setup Guide appears near the bottom of the main left-hand navigation, below Settings. Click it at any time to open your checklist, whether you are completing it for the first time or returning to add more features later.
Benefits of the Setup Guide
New Business Center customers often lose momentum right after purchase because there is no clear next step, and generic feature lists do not tell you what to do first. The Setup Guide solves this by giving you a checklist built specifically around what you tell it you care about, so you spend your first session making real progress instead of hunting through menus.
Using the Setup Guide helps you:
- Get up and running faster. You see setup tasks for the features you chose, not every feature Business Center offers.
- Avoid getting stuck. Each task tells you exactly what to do and where, even if that means stepping into a different part of Business Center along the way.
- See your progress at a glance. A progress bar at the top of My Checklist is divided into one segment per feature you selected, so you can see completion for each feature and overall.
- Pick up right where you left off. Each feature card shows whether its tasks are not yet started, in progress, or done, so returning to your checklist later is never confusing.
How to Select Your Setup Features
Click Setup Guide in the left-hand navigation. Business Center shows you a screen titled "Where can Thryv help you the most?" with the subtext "Pick one. Pick 'em all. We're here to help." Below this, nine tiles display the available Business Center capabilities, each with an icon and a short description of what the feature does. Scheduling, Estimates & Invoices, and Organize Client Data each show a Popular badge.
The nine tiles are:
- Scheduling
- Estimates & Invoices
- Organize Client Data
- Organize Classes & Events
- Collect Online Payment
- Send Email Campaign
- Share Documents
- Customize Client Portal
- Inbox
Click any tile to select it. A selected tile displays an orange border and a light orange background. You can select one tile or several. Once you select at least one tile, the Set Up Now button at the bottom of the screen becomes active and changes from gray to orange. Click Set Up Now to build your personalized checklist based on your selections.
How to Work Through Your Checklist
After you select your features and click Set Up Now, Business Center takes you to the My Checklist screen. The left panel is titled "My Checklist" with the subtext "Complete the following to get more from Thryv Business Center," followed by a progress bar with one segment per selected feature.
Below the progress bar, each feature you selected appears as its own card:
- A card showing a Show link has not been opened yet.
- A card showing a Hide link is currently expanded, displaying its list of tasks.
- A card showing Done in green text has had every task in it completed.
Click a feature card to expand or collapse its task list, then click any task inside it to open the task's details in the right-hand panel. Read the description in this panel, then follow the instructions given. Some tasks are completed right there in the panel. Others take you to a different area of Business Center to finish the task — when this happens, a floating instructional panel stays on your screen with numbered steps to follow. Once you finish those steps, click the panel's Back to Setup Guide button to return to your checklist.
Once a task is complete, click Mark This As Complete at the bottom of the task panel, then use the button in the bottom right — labeled either Next or Save & Next depending on the task — to move to the next one in your checklist. Use Back to return to the previous task.
How to Add More Features to Your Checklist
If you did not select every relevant feature the first time, you can add more at any time. From My Checklist, click Explore other features at the bottom of the left panel. This adds the feature you choose to your checklist alongside your original selections.
