We’re expanding the ThryvPay® surcharge feature to Canada and making important updates for New Zealand merchants. 

Here's what you need to know:

• Surcharge Rate Adjustment in New Zealand: The surcharge rate in New Zealand is decreasing from 2.9% to 2.0% to remain compliant with local regulations. Merchants in NZ were notified of this change via email on 10/15/24.
• Compliant Surcharge Rates in Canada and New Zealand: Surcharge rates in both Canada and New Zealand will be set to the maximum allowed by law. However, these rates may not cover the full transaction fee, meaning merchants may need to absorb any remaining costs.
• Exclusion for Prepaid and Debit Cards: Surcharges will no longer apply to payments made with prepaid or debit cards.
• Surcharge Not Available in Quebec: The surcharge feature will not be available in Quebec, Canada, and will be disabled for merchants in this region.

These updates ensure that you can charge a surcharge while remaining compliant with your country's laws, giving you more flexibility in managing transaction fees.
