A Lead Magnet is a great tool to provide your leads with value to convince them to come back for more. Thryv makes it easy to upload a digital asset that can be used as a lead magnet to attract more customers! This guide will go over the 3 step process to setting up your lead magnet to increase lead conversion and revenue!
Step 1: Upload your digital asset
A digital asset for a lead magnet needs to be something useful to your customers that you can give away for free, for the purpose of positioning yourself as an expert in your field, and demonstrating the value of your services to your customers. Some good examples of digital assets that can be used in this manner are:
- How-To/DIY Guides
- Blueprints or Templates
- Informational flyers or pamphlets, such as checklists or other resources
In this example, we're going to use a downloadable guide, "Trimming Your Dog's Nails at Home"
The reason this example fits is it gives our potential pet care customers just enough information to try trimming their pets nails at home, but also will show how valuable your pet service is once they realize it's not as easy as it sounds, leading them to call you! You can use this concept to think of something that would work for your industry
To upload your digital asset, navigate to Documents>Upload To My Documents
Drag and drop your asset from your files, or Click To Browse and find it, then click on Upload
Once your document is uploaded, click on the Tri-Dots next to it under My Documents, and click on View
You will be taken to an online version of your document. From here, Copy the Link in the URL of the page you are taken to. You will need this link later in the process when you create the campaign.
Now that you're digital asset is loaded and ready to send to customers, it's time to create the automated campaign that will send it to your leads
Step 2: Create Automated E-Mail Campaign
The next step is to create an automated campaign that will send your asset to your new leads.
To start, navigate to Marketing>Automated Campaigns
From here, you can edit the existing New Lead campaign, or Add Automated Campaign to set up a new one (note that this option is only available on Professional and Unlimited accounts. For a Plus account, you will need to edit the existing new lead campaign, as only one of each campaign type is availble).
When creating your own campaign, make sure you set Convert potential clients into paying customers as your goal. This will set the campaign to automatically send to all new leads.
Now that your campaign has been created, edit the campaign as normal. Click Here for a full guide to creating automated campaigns. Once you have your wording created and an eye-catching picture added, the most important part is the Action Button
Click on the Action Button to edit it. Once the editing window is open, click on Edit to change the action
When editing the button, click on Change Action
Select Custom URL as your campaign action
Finally, in the URL field, paste your link that you copied in Step 1, then click on Save
From here, save your campaign as normal and set it to Active, and you are ready to move on to the final step in setting up your lead magnet!
Step 3: Create Your Campaign in Marketing Center
The final step is to create your campaign to spread the word about your lead magnet campaign! While we aren't going to go over every detail of campaign creation here (Click Here for a full guide NEED A LINK HERE) we are going to highlight the parts where it is relevant to steer customers toward downloading your digital asset.
The main parts of the campaign you will need to edit are the Landing Page and the Ads to let customers know about your lead magnet offer
When editing the landing page, you will need to change the wording in the Business Description field, letting your customers know about your offer. Make sure you mention the following points, as they are a necessary part of the process:
- They will need to enter their information in the contact form. This is the process that adds them to your Thryv and triggers the automated campaign
- They will receive their asset within 24 hours. The automated campaign doesn't go right away, but rather at a set time every day. This creates the impression that you are sending the asset to them personally once you've reviewed their form, adding a personal touch
Next, you will need to customize your ad to tell customers about your offer. Make sure both the Description and the Headline mention your offer. Note that the headline should be much shorter, ideally one line, and only try to make one point, in this case the offer.
Also, make sure that your Call To Action is set to Get Offer
