Build Your Review Campaign
To build a review generation campaign, navigate to Marketing>Announcements
Note: Many parts of the Marketing section of Thryv come with pre-generated campaigns based on your industry. This means that these screens, especially templates for campaigns, will look different to different users. In this guide we will try to use a variety of screenshots to show how it may look for you.
To create a new campaign, click on New Announcement at the top of the screen
Either select Create Your Own at the top or bottom of the page, or select a template if one is available.
Or, you can Edit an existing campaign if one is available
Now that you are in the campaign itself, click on any text box to edit the text as normal. If you need a guide to creating announcements in general, Click Here. Your text should make the customer feel valued and that you appreciate their business. It also should make very clear the action that you want them to take, in this case leave a review for your business.
Grab Your Review Link
Now we will create a direct link to the site where you will ask your customers to leave you a review.
If your Google My Business page is connected to Thryv, you will be able to grab your link by navigating to Online Presence>Google My Business
Scroll to the section Reviews. Click on Share Your Short Link and then Copy the link provided.
You also can obtain the link directly from the site you are directing your customers to. You can choose a site you are listed on by navigating to Online Presence>Listings Management
From here, click on the logo of the site you want to generate reviews on.
Then, to grab the link, navigate to the review section of that site. Copy the link and we will paste it into your campaign in the next step.
Insert Link Into Your Campaign
Now, we will direct this campaign to your preferred 3rd part review site. Click on the Action Button within the campaign
In order to direct clients to a 3rd party review site, as opposed to a 1st party Thryv review (Click Here for a guide to Thryv Reviews), we need to change the action from Review to Custom URL.
To do this, click the pencil icon on the button, then click Edit>Change Action>Custom URL>Paste Your Link
To direct your clients to a 3rd party review site, select the option Custom URL. In the URL field, paste the link we grabbed earlier. Then click Save
To test your link and make sure your campaign is working, click on View Online. Then, click on the action button in your campaign. The button should take you straight to the review site in your link.
The End Result: Every new customer in your Thryv will receive a direct invitation to leave you a review, and your action button will have them One Click away from that review. It couldn't possibly be any easier for your clients to leave you great reviews!
You can send your campaign as normal, and use tags to direct the campaign for a specific audience (for a guide on this, Click Here
FAQ
Can I ask my clients to leave me reviews on Yelp?
Directly asking for reviews violates Yelp's terms of service. What businesses often do in order to build their reviews on Yelp is to phrase their message as "Find us on Yelp!" and avoid directly asking for the review. Businesses are permitted to provide a link to their Yelp listing, but not directly ask for a review. If you choose to link to your Yelp page, make sure you don't include a direct request for a review anywhere in your message or you could put your standing with Yelp at risk.
Can I direct clients to multiple review sites?
A Campaign can only have one action button, and therefore, only one review site. This is optimal, as overwhelming your customer with too many choices is more likely to result in them not leaving a review at all! The beauty of this campaign is that they are just one click away from the action you are asking them to take.
If I get a review on one site, can I copy or forward it to other review sites?
Reviews are considered proprietary content. So where the review is posted, be it Google, Yahoo, or any other review site, that 3rd party owns that content, so we are not able to create a central location to display all reviews.
How do I respond to Google, Facebook, and Other 3rd party Reviews?
You can respond to Google, Facebook, and Yelp reviews inside of Thryv as long as they are connected through your Listings Management. Otherwise, you would respond on their respective sites.
