Moving your existing data into Thryv Business Center™ just got a whole lot easier! The Smart Data Importer makes importing data into Thryv Business Center a seamless experience. You can import any payments, invoices, products, estimates, and contacts into Thryv Business Center using either a CSV, XLS, or by pasting the data manually. Once you're through choosing what to import and what fields you'd like mapped over, you'll receive a message in your Inbox when all of the data has finished importing.

Import Multiple Account under the same Contact
To get started, navigate to the App Market and select the Smart Data Importer App.
Select Launch this App.
You will be brought to a permissions screen.
Check the box to agree to the terms and conditions, then select Connect to Smart Data Importer.
The next screen is the Smart Data Importer.
From here you will select the object you'd like to import: contacts, invoices, products, estimates, or payments.
You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
Then, select start import.
Import Contacts*
1. Select the option, Contact Importer.
- You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
Then, select start import.
2. Next, you can upload any .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, or .xml files with any set of columns as long as it has 1 record per row or you can manually enter the contacts information in the provided rows.
- If you choose to manually enter, proceed to step #7 once entered.
- If you choose to upload a file continue to step #3.
3. If you chose to upload, the next step will ask you to confirm the row that has the column names.
- You can change the encoding option from the provided dropdown.
- Available fields in Thryv Business Center for an imported contact is determined by your client card fields.
- If you need to add/edit those fields refer to this article.
4. Next, confirm the mapping of the columns on your file to the available fields in Thryv Business Center .
- For matched fields, confirm it is the correct field.
- If a field didn't automatically match, select the drop-down to determine the field you'd like it to map to or select ignore.
- Ignored fields will not pull the information for that column in the import.
5. Once all the fields are mapped or ignored, select review.
6. Confirm the contact information for each column is correct. If so, select continue.
- If you have any fields that appear red, you can click inside the field to correct.
7. Confirm you are ready to submit the contacts to be imported, select yes.
Your import is in progress! You will be notified of the import's completion in your Thryv Business Center inbox.
Import Multiple Accounts Under the Same Contact
1. Select the option, Accounts Importer.
- The CRM term (Accounts, Projects, Students, Pets, etc.) on your account will appear here.
- You will need to define these fields before you can perform an import.
- Select the term that most closely relates to your needs: accounts, job/projects, or individuals for assistance.
- You will need to define these fields before you can perform an import.
- You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
Then, select start import.
2. Next, you can upload any .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, or .xml files with any set of columns as long as it has 1 record per row or you can manually enter the contacts information in the provided rows.
- If you choose to manually enter, proceed to step #7 once entered.
- If you choose to upload a file continue to step #3.
3. If you chose to upload, the next step will ask you to confirm the row that has the column names.
- You can change the encoding option from the provided dropdown.
- Available fields in Thryv Business Center for an imported account are determined by your account card fields.

Import Invoices
1. Select the option, Invoice Importer.
- You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
- Determine if you'd like an email for an open invoice sent to the client.
- Determine if you'd like to allow clients to pay online for open invoices.
Then, select accept & start import.
2. Next, you can upload any .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, or .xml files with any set of columns as long as it has 1 record per row or manually add the information for each invoice you'd like to import.
- If you choose to manually enter, proceed to step #7 once entered.
- If you choose to upload a file continue to step #3.
3. If you choose to upload, the next step will ask you to confirm the row that has the column names.
- You can change the encoding option from the provided drop-down, if needed.
- Available invoice fields that can be mapped for an invoice:
- *Issued at, *email, *title, *due date, currency, *amount, *payment state, payment method, note, address, invoice number, and client name. (*required field)
4. Next, confirm the mapping of the columns on your file to the *available fields in Thryv Business Center .
- For matched fields, confirm it is the correct field.
- If a field didn't automatically match, select the drop-down to determine the field you'd like it to map to or select ignore.
- Ignored fields will not pull the information for that column in the import.
5. Once all the fields are mapped or ignored, select review.
6. Confirm the contact information for each column is correct. If so, select continue.
- If you have any fields that appear red, you can click inside the field to correct.
7. Confirm you are ready to submit the contacts to be imported, select yes.

Note: Line items are not included individually with imported invoices. The line will simply say Invoice and show the total price
Import Estimates
1. Select the option, Estimates Importer.
- You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
- Determine if you'd like the contact issued an email for the open/issued estimate.
Then, select accept & start import.
2. Next, you can upload any .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, or .xml files with any set of columns as long as it has 1 record per row or you can manually enter the contacts information in the provided rows.
- If you choose to manually enter, proceed to step #7 once entered.
- If you choose to upload a file continue to step #3.

Import Products
Select the option, Products Importer.
- You can advise of the source of the file you are importing by selecting an option from the dropdown.
Then, select start import.
2. Next, you can upload any .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, or .xml files with any set of columns as long as it has 1 record per row or you can manually enter the contacts information in the provided rows.
- If you choose to manually enter, proceed to step #7 once entered.
- If you choose to upload a file continue to step #3.
3. If you choose to upload, the next step will ask you to confirm the row that has the column names. (If you have a file with multiple sheets, it will ask you to select the sheet with the product information. The import can only import one sheet at a time.)
- You can also change the encoding option from the provided dropdown.
- Available product columns that can be mapped for a product:
- *Product name, *price, description, *product currency, description, display on products list, image URL, and taxes. (*required field)
- Image URL
- To include an image in the import of your products, the image must be available online and have a URL. A quick and easy way to add an image online is to add it to your my documents section of Thryv Business Center . It will assign a URL to that image that you can include in your import.
- Taxes on Products
- To include a tax on your products, the tax must already be created in your Thryv Business Center account. In the import, you can assign 'yes' or 'no' in the tax column to indicate if the product gets that tax. Please note: A value must be entered into this column or the sync of the data to Thryv Business Center will fail and not complete.
4. Next, confirm the mapping of the columns on your file to the available fields in Thryv Business Center .
- For matched fields, confirm it is the correct field.
- If a field didn't automatically match, select the drop-down to determine the field you'd like it to map to or select ignore.
- Ignored fields will not pull the information for that column in the import.
Make sure to include all required fields as a column on your import, or you will receive the message below. To correct, edit your import and add the necessary field(s).
Required fields for product import: product name, price, description, product currency.
5. Once all the fields are mapped or ignored, select review.
6. Confirm the product information for each column is correct. If so, select continue.
- If you have any fields that appear red, you can click inside the field to correct them.
7. Confirm you are ready to submit the products to be imported, select yes.
Your import is in progress! You will be notified of the import's completion in your Thryv Business Center inbox.
*Importing contacts with the Smart Data Importer does not have an option to include notes for the clients. If you have notes that you need to be imported for your contacts, you can use the importer in the contact list tab.
Uninstall
To uninstall the Smart Data Importer, click on Unsubscribe in the top right. This will uninstall the app. Any data that was previously imported will remain in your Thryv Business Center .
