The following contains the necessary steps needing to be taken to update the QuickBooks Desktop connector which integrates with your Thryv®. By completing these steps, you are ensuring the data being shared will continue to flow between the applications as expected.
Select from one of the three scenarios outlined below which best describes your company’s current state with the QuickBooks Desktop application.
Scenario 1: QuickBooks Desktop application is open with the connected company file
If the QuickBooks Desktop application is running and the connected company file is open, QuickBooks will request the user to permit the connector to access the data again the next time that connector attempts to access the file.
The next time the connector attempts to access the file, QuickBooks will open a prompt for the user to permit the connector to access the data again. Choose the appropriate selection and click Continue.
Next, decide on the type of access to grant the connector.
Finally, confirm the connector may have access to the company file.
Scenario 2: QuickBooks Desktop application is open with a different company file
For multi-company setups, it's possible that the connector will try to access a different company file than the one that is currently open in the QuickBooks Desktop application.
The next time the connector attempts to access the file, QuickBooks will request the user to approve access for the company that is currently open.
The end user should validate that the pop-up is referring to the company they are expecting to have connected before approving. Choose the appropriate selection and click Continue.
Scenario 3: The QuickBooks Desktop application is closed
If the connector attempts to access the company file when the QuickBooks Desktop application is closed, it will display an error message with the following:
The connector cannot initiate communication with QuickBooks Desktop when it is closed, and any previously granted permissions to access QuickBooks Desktop while it is not running do not transfer to the new certificate.
The user needs to launch the QuickBooks Desktop application, open the correct company file, and approve the connector's access to it.
The approval prompt may take a few moments to appear. If needing to manually trigger the approval prompt, due so by clicking the “Perform Sync” button.
